Slightly tight road on the way up. Our MWB van was fine, though. Car park is big with some relatively flat spaces. Deadly quiet and peaceful at night, we were the only van to stay. The car park was busy almost all evening and again in the morning with runners/walkers/dog walkers. There are a couple of nice walks and some picnic benches to use too.

Gorgeous spot - in between hills with stunning views in all directions, great for watching the sunset. Very busy with walkers from early morning until it got dark (but it got dark at 7pm due to the time of year) so felt a bit exposed, however great for overnight as very quiet. We stayed on the little lay-by on the left before the main car park.

Masses of spaces but gets very busy with walkers doing long hikes and dog walkers parking for an hour or two. Overnight very quiet just an owl hooting. Surface muddy due to recent heavy rain. No facilities. Good for walking to Captain Cook memorial and Roseberry Topping. The drive into the Dales is gated (beware of sheep and chickens). Not suitable for larger vehicles (we are 6.4 metre long).

Very quiet! Lovely place to stay, only us and another car.

Perfectly quiet and out the way especially midweek. I parked up on the left just before the cattle grid that leads you into the free grass carpark and was glorious. Handy for Saltburn

Great spot, two parking areas either side of the cattle grid, one level and one on a sligh angle. Road access generally good but a steep sharp bend on approach from one direction. Lots of walks nearby and a picnic area. Great stop over location, busy in the day but empties out from 6pm onwards.

Great spot, lots of spaces. In front of woods with picnic benches and a bin. Mostly quiet apart from a group of lads pulling up around 9pm, caused a bit of noise and smoking but left without bother. Felt safe. Good location for many walks.

absolutely lovely place to visit. car park is surrounded by lots of walks, I.e roseberry topping, captain cooks monument. busy during the day but absolutely beautiful on a night. bins for litter and there are also pic nic benches.

  • 3/5

Difficult to get to in a large van. Lots of dog walkers about until just before sundown so parking can be difficult. Nice quiet spot.

  • 5/5

Great park up, beautiful part of country. sheltered from the wind by woodland, hikes either side of car park to roseberry topping, captain cooks monument and Kildale. Quiet road, bin for rubbish, picnic benches, location is busy with visitors during the day though we where the only ones who stayed at night. Definitely recommend stunning location.

Very quiet at night, sheltered from wind and no noise, perfect place to stay when we did. And free.

  • 5/5

Access from Great Ayton (very narrow from Kildale). Space for many vans in car parks. CP before cattle grid is slightly sloppy. CP over grid rhs is along roadside/woodland, nice & flat very easy access. Quiet spot after day walkers leave. Great but windy walks.

  • 4/5

Great park up for walking but quite a bit of activity during daylight hours. Fairly level with room for several vans. Picnic tables available, no bin. Some disturbance from around 10:30pm with a group of lads. They left us alone but it was a bit unsettling, after that no problems. This could be a problem on warmer evenings and at weekends. It’s worth considering if you want to stay here.

Lovely quiet spot, few people turned up early to walk dogs etc. Us and 2 other vans over night. Loads of room. There is a bin!!! But we still ended up litter picking all (to be fair it’s probs not vans that leave most of the rubbish). Great hub for loads of walks including Roseberry topping and captain cooks monument.

Pulled up here in the afternoon, didn't spend the night as we needed somewhere with phone signal. None here. Looks like it would be a great place to spend the night. Place for a lot of vehicles but can get quite busy during the day with walkers and bikers - few trails in the area. Narrow steep windy road to get there

Lovely place to stop overnight. Thought I might have company overnight but everyone had gone by 9:30pm. Really peaceful, apart from a few sheep, until about 7am when walkers started arriving. Everyone was friendly and it’s well worth the short hike up to the monument for 360-views. Plenty of spaces and handy picnic tables too.

Maybe I was just unlucky but stayed here last night and a couple of cars turned up with a rowdy bunch of lads and lasses! Apart from that it was a great spot with plenty of options for a walk

  • 5/5

Great views lovely setting great for dog walking.

  • 5/5

Amazing view, we had a great walk in the morning up to cooks memorial. Picnic benches available. We didn't park in the main carpark but a little before it. Was a quiet lovely spot.

Stayed here last night and whilst very busy in the day, it's very quiet at night with only the odd car stopping to watch the fabulous sun set. Plenty of space on the car park and an over spill car park to the left of the cattle grid. Beautiful walks and views all around Roseberry Topping. A lovely village 5 minute drive away. No bins so take your rubbish home! Definitely recommended.

Gravel car park with around 15-20 spaces. Plenty people coming and going through the day but very quiet and peaceful at night.
