Great place to park for the night. It's on the access road to the mine visitors center. The mine is well worth a visit, but you do have to book for the mine tour on line. Be warned though there is only a small shop here no pub and the cafe has closed down.

Really good park up , we had a quiet peaceful night , good 4G ( on EE) lunch in the “Hive” community café was excellent , the community toilets were clean , managed to top up our water bottles , recycling area just down the road , small community run shop for your bits and bobs , good dog walking all around , shame the pub is shut though but I believe something is on the fizz regarding this , we stopped in January I imagine it is wonderful in the summer .

A night of complete peace, an amazing dog walk straight out over the little bridge in the car park, clean toilets open 24/7, what more could you ask for! An incredible spot. The nearby village of Alston has a shop, petrol and a title takeaway too, very handy.

Loads of flat spaces, good access to walks and kids playground as well as toilets. Roads leading here were interesting!

Quiet and safe park up, pub, play area, museum, walks, 24hr toilets.... Perfect place for a park up!!

Please note… The Miners Arms is NO longer a pub. It’s a private residence. A good park up nonetheless.

Great stopping point in the Upper Pennines. Welcomed by all locals we met. Make sure to check out The Hive, a Wesleyan Chapel converted to cafe, gallery and community hub. Excellent place

only gave a 4 star as no bins. But public toilets at the entrance with a little donation box in the shape of a mini house outside the toilets. some nice walks over the river, walk towards the mine and you will see the small bridge on the right. pub over the road but I didn't go in. Just me and the dog but felt safe and secure.

Large car park in a lovely village, lots of spaces. Public toilets clean and open 24/7. Parking is free but they have a donations box outside the toilets and you can donate to the mines ☺️ Locals are lovely, and gave us suggestions for nice walks, we had a lovely time. Great for the dog!

Just spent a lovely night here. Parked at the top end and had a very peaceful night. Large car park, ample room for lots of vehicles. Community toilets just next to the car park. Gorgeous community owned cafe (Hive) opposite, best coffee I’ve had in ages. Right on the coast to coast cycle route. There’s a donation box outside the toilets which is a miniature house made by a local gentleman.

Great location with free car park. I stayed here for 1 night and parked further up towards the mine. The car park is a bit uneven and gravel at this end, much moor level and smooth in the designated car parking bays. Fantastic walk around the wooded area across the stream. Although the carpark is free, I made a donation on the mines website as it is run by volunteers.
