Great food and friendly pub for £10 a night goes to charity worth every penny. A swarm of midges in the morning so bring repellent just in case! Didn’t dampen our spirits.

  • 5/5

Fantastic view, atmosphere and service. £10 for night. One bathroom open when pub closes, including shower. Reasonably level parking.

Really great park up. There were lots of campers when we arrived around 5 ish on Friday night. We had a few drinks in the pub. We didn’t eat but the food looked amazing. There was a Queen tribute act on but I think it’s finished around 11/12 ish but it wasn’t noisy but could be depending where you park. Will return!

Stayed 8th April 2023 - £10 per night per van. Good place for a night, especially if you like live bands and beer! Was very busy. Will return again. Staff very friendly too.

5 stars, we parked up late after last orders. Despite this we had a very nice meal and had a cozy night slept in the van:) We gave a £10 charity donation to be able to stay and use the outside toilet and shower while we were here ! Happy campers

£10 per night which goes to charity. Nice to experience the highest inn in England but won’t rush back. One outside toilet and shower in one which wasn’t pleasant at all by 8pm! Lovely views though

  • 5/5

Lovely lovely lovely staff, place and views. Can’t fault it. Toilet, shower, food et al available. Can I just please ask other campers to patron the pub as the staff are really generous and helpful.

£10 per night that goes to charity. Going in the summer is busy but we went last weekend and it was lovely, log fire, great service and very dog friendly

Stayed here last night. It was £10 per van which is voluntary but this goes towards the air ambulance. We had pre booked a meal in the pub and it was totally full and a great buzz. They had a band on later but we couldn’t hear it from the van outside. They had toilets to use during the night. Great nights sleep even though it was blowing a gale.

Busy and dirty with vans crammed in. We pre-booked and couldn’t get a space in the MH area. Lots of rules and seemingly not enforced to the detriment of the campers.

  • 5/5

Great views and walks. Portaloos very clean. Didn't eat in pub, just stayed overnight for £10.

We stayed at Tanhill inn late September, we payed £10 pppn half that goes to local charity. We had a fabulous time great weather walks & beer. There’s outside showers & toilets & fresh water hose. It’s was busy but I loved the atmosphere will definitely go again. The area (mentioned in review) with a gate is still locked. But theres a couple of other free areas would hold 4-5. MoHo’s / Camper van.

  • 5/5

We were charged £20 (2x£10 pppn) you also need to pay the same for any dogs! We were Rammed into a tight space next to the loo’s, on a tilt down a grass bank. Place while area was overcrowded with cars, campers and Motorhome’s. Open fires were lit which smocked us out and there was a promise of live music. We left after eating but only after I spoke with the owner of the van behind. I have given it 5 stars because I appreciate what the owner is doing but it isn’t free or wild camper camping it just going to the pub to get wasted in your Motorhome. Doesn’t really belong with the type of quiet out of the way spots on this site.

Great place to stay! Cash only for staying outside as it's a charity donation. Food and pints very good. It snowed heavily overnight so ended up having breakfast too and waiting a few hours for snow to thaw and snowplough to come through. Staff were lovely and very informative about advice on which roads would be best to get out safe!

  • 5/5

Very friendly! There’s an outside drinking water tap, shower and toilet for camper use. It’s £5 per night.

Always a cracking place to stay. Food at the pub is brilliant, music Friday and Saturday nights. Welcoming to all who want to stay, and can't recommend enough :)

Tan Hill inn. Been here many times. The August bank holiday weekend was wonderful. Hot sunny weather. Good food and a great band playing on the night. Star gazing is awesome.

  • 4/5

Great location and pub with toilet and seasonal shower facilities. It does get very busy so be aware if you're arriving late that you may have to park on the side of the road. Be prepared for wind and rain noise due to location.

Great spot, lovely pub and good walks/cycling on your doorstep. Service in the pub was fairly ‘fawlty towers’ esq. toilets had no toilet paper or hand towel all night and next morning - despite mentioning to staff about 4 times. One member of staff got a bit snotty about it! Told by several members of staff we didn’t have to book for breakfast but then when we walked in in the morning we were told we should have booked. We felt disappointed with the service generally but the location itself is great and nice to be able to park up and have a pint (or three) by a cosy pub fire.
