As another commenter pointed out the small print on the sign says no camping. Sadly. As a council car park you could get a penalty ticket. Go to the Common, by the water towers on the hill instead
Un grand parking juste de l'autre côté de la route depuis la plage avec le restaurant 'The Sail Loft' à côté. Gratuit de 18h à 8h avec beaucoup d'espace. Il y a des frais pendant la journée mais pas sûr que quelqu'un vérifie les billets en hiver. Il est effectivement interdit de camper mais nous (et d’autres fourgons) avons séjourné ici au plus fort de l’été et n’avons eu aucun problème, il y a beaucoup de monde pendant la journée mais tout de suite s’est calmé après 18 heures. Il y a des poubelles sur le parking et des toilettes gratuites juste en bas de la rue, juste après le restaurant Loft à la voile. C'est aussi une agréable petite promenade le long de la route ou de la plage dans Southwold même. Pas de restriction de hauteur ni de porte actuellement verrouillée 15.02.19
A large car park just over the road from the beach with ‘The Sail Loft’ restaurant next to it. Free from 6pm - 8am with loads of space. It has charges during the day but not sure anyone checks for tickets during winter. It does say no over night camping but we (and other vans) have stayed here in the height of the summer too and had no trouble, it gets busy during the day but soon quiets right down after 6pm. There are bins on the car park and a free toilet just down the road past the sail loft restaurant. It’s also a nice short walk along the road or beach into Southwold itself. Currently no height restriction or locking gate 15.02.19
Ausreichend Parkplätze direkt gegenüber vom Strand mit dem Restaurant "The Sail Loft" nebenan. Frei von 18:00 bis 08:00 Uhr mit viel Platz. Tagsüber wird eine Gebühr erhoben, aber im Winter ist nicht sicher, ob jemand die Tickets überprüft. Es ist in der Tat kein Camping, aber wir (und andere Vans) blieben hier im Hochsommer und hatten keine Probleme, waren tagsüber beschäftigt, beruhigten uns aber sofort nach 18 Uhr. Es gibt Mülleimer auf dem Parkplatz und kostenlose Toiletten gleich die Straße runter, gleich hinter dem Restaurant Sail Loft. Es ist auch ein netter kleiner Spaziergang entlang der Straße oder am Strand in Southwold selbst. Keine Höhenbeschränkung oder Tür aktuell verriegelt 15.02.19

Nice large carpark with public toilets just down the road if you need them. Lovely spot near the beach and a short walk from the Red Lion and main area of town. Lovely view across the marshes. Free between 6pm-8am! Quiet night, there were 3 other campers but plenty of space, we will definitely return.
N1C22/09/2023Great stop, and no overnight restriction signs like the other car parks further down the road. Quiet and calm night, notwithstanding the torrential rain. Paid during the day… free overnight. No services. Great 4g on Vodafone.
tanz197816/07/2023We spent a couple of nights here mid-July and loved it. Very quiet at night, just far enough from town to feel out the way and right next to the beach and a nice pub. You pay £4 for all day parking then free overnight. Didn’t see anyone checking. Bins on site and a clean public toilet 5 mins walk away at the harbour. Town is 5 mins in the other direction. Recommended but keep it clean and tidy.

A great place to spend the night to visit the lovely seaside town of Southwold. Busy during the day, but we got a space easily, very quiet overnight. Able to walk along the river where there are places to eat or buy fresh fish.

stayed there last night. like people have said before ots the only carpark that doesn't say " no over night parking " so it's an easy win. very quiet just the sound of the waves to put you to sleep haha. free parking after 6pm till 8am and cheap other than that. toilets a short walk away with water top up avaliable.

Fab quiet car park with bins and clean toilets 5 mins walk away . Cheap day charges . Unlike all the other car parks there are no “no overnight parking signs” and we really checked , very evident elsewhere . We were the only van parked up and a 1 min walk from the sea . Restaurant looked lovely but was fully booked . Harbour inn pub recommended .

Fantastischer Platz und direkt am Meer (nur die Düne rauf). Nebenan ist noch ein nettes Lokal und nachts war es sehr ruhig! Ggfls. am Wochenende anders, aber unter der Woche ein super Platz!

24hour parking £4.20 via RingGo parking app - great service & food at The sail loft pub next door . Really close walk to beach . Great little spot for our 1st Adventure in our new Moto .

Level gravel car park next to a pub/restaurant. Sign says no camping overnight ;) Paid £4.20 to park for 24 hours. Short walk in to Southwold passes public toilets which were clean. Short walk the other way to the harbour where there are a couple of fish & chip takeaways where you can sit outside to eat.

Very quiet night, the beach is just the other side of some dunes and a lovely view of marshland from the van. The road alongside barely used once day trippers went home. Parking costs 4.00 all day (8am-6pm, not sure if that's an off-peak price or steady throughout the year). Clean toilets 5 min walk away. Definitely recommend.

Vanessacombo14/08/2019Stayed here in the past without issue. This time was woken very early on by youths driving erratically around the car park. Other than that this location is perfect for direct access to the beach, town, toilets and refuse points.
