Birchover Carpark - Nice remote spot with nice views, high up but surrounding trees offer a little shelter from the wind. Car park is mostly even, no signs or restrictions plus no height barrier. As you enter the car park the left hand side is public and the right hand side is reserved for the staff of a nearby quarry who arrive from 6am onwards.

Nice an chilled out location with walks from it…

  • 4/5

on edge of beautiful moors, large area. a few dog walkers. friendly. no facilities unless you walk down to the pubs.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

I really enjoyed parking up overnight. A few other vans here but very quiet during the night. No services and a very slight slope but not too bad, and all for free. I walked down the path towards the pub and back through the village. Lots of character and friendly people. Will come here again to do more of the trails in the area.

Park on the left as you come in, nice and flat lovely and quiet, lovely local walks

  • 5/5

Nice spot, couple of other vans, everyone very chatty and friendly. Druids inn is a 5 min walk away, very nice pub and round the back there are some Druid caves to explore - would highly recommend for a stop over

Absolutely overrun with campers, seems like some sort of encampment. Sure to get shut down, they've left no space for regular cars and local visitors.

  • 1/5

This 'used' to be my perfect little secret car park but now it's constantly rammed full of massive vans. There also seems to be van lifers from Liverpool living in there that do not care about other people or their surroundings so now I have to find somewhere new :(

  • 3/5

my van got scratched from people parking to close…this spot is far to busy!

  • 4/5

Great spot. level ground although sludgy. Large carpark plenty of room. arrived to another camper already here and another joined during the night. Great starting point for a few walks. signal on EE was intermittent seemed to be effected by weather. but no real issues. Quarry next door is active but didn't bother us. slept well. lovely and quiet. lots of bird song. we will use again

This is a lovely spot to stay. The ground is fairly even, there is a slight slope, nothing that levelling blocks won’t sort. Peaceful night for sleeping, no passing traffic. There are no facilities, so please take your rubbish with you, keep it clean!

I keep coming back here as it’s quiet, flat, good for my dog as walks immediately from the car park, but also really close to Nine Ladies and the rest of Stanton Moor. There’s a pub that looks nice within walking distance but I’ve not been. No bins. Good 4G/5G signal. And peacocks screeching - they stop at nightfall. I’ve never seen other vans parked up.

Stayed here on a very cold and snowy December night. Had the whole car park to ourselves. Good walks and the Druid pub was great for dinner, only a short walk away through the woods.

  • 4/5

good free carpark for one nights stay. no height restrictions but also no services.. we come to this spot regularly but it can get very busy and rowdy some nights so it's good to have a backup spot.

  • 5/5

Sound little Car park two pubs ten mins walk through woods loads of good walks nearby about ten vans here would use again quiet nite

  • 5/5

Great overnight spot. Shared the space with 6 other campers, very quiet

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Excellent little spot, level, quiet slept well. Had phone servince on Vodafone but skipped between 3&4G but it was fine. I would stay here again no problem :)

  • 4/5

Nice place for a night. Lovely walk over the moor. Only one and a half (minivan) campers joined us. Today not so quiet in the quarry. Maybe some overtime for today but every 10 minutes a slab of stone is sawn in two. Did not disturb me too much.

  • 5/5

Perfect spot with no restrictions, nice even ground, decent phone service and lots of nice walking routes at your fingertips. 10/10 one of the best overnight spots I’ve found.

  • 5/5

Great secluded spot. Near the Druid Inn. Great views and very quiet.

  • 5/5

Great stopover. We stayed on a bank holiday weekend...very quiet, no noise from the quarry. 10 min walk to the Druid Inn and public toilets. Water trough at the bottom of the village formerly provided water for the village of Birchover and now restored.

  • 5/5

Beautiful sunset, very quiet once walkers have gone, couple of campers for company and great walks would definitely go again

  • 4/5

Nice large carpark, no restrictions. Lovely spot to access the moores. Carpark has a mild slope and in winter can be sludgy. Some light noise from the Stone works over night, and we were disterbed by 2 other vans plus 2 cars who came after dark to all meet up and let their dogs run a muck and fight. Otherwise had a decent sleep.

  • 4/5

Great car park for Betty our Campervan, secluded lovely local walks, had a delicious lunch at the Druid Inn and went for a walk to see the Druid stones about 1/2 mile further up the road.

  • 5/5

Great spot with a nice walk down to the Druid Inn and the Druid Caves/rocks behind. OK signal.

  • 5/5

Nice flat and quiet spot. 5 mins walk from the pub. 3 other campers there.

  • 5/5

Nice spot for the night, other camper with us was quiet and safe.

  • 1/5

Arrived mid afternoon today to find an encampment of 8 vans. This kind of set up is exactly what the proposed legislation for parking on private land by vanlifers will give reason for the act to succeed. Its pointless protesting if the very same people abuse our simple vanlife code . I left and parked further down the lane where I had the place to myself.

  • 3/5

Just us and one other canpervan during the evening, but given a midweek night in November, I'd assume it would be busier during summer or weekends. A few cars pulled up during the evening with teenagers in. The view is very limited in my opinion. There is one spot which has a semi decent view, but only one van can take advantage of it. A little noise from the quarry during the night

  • 5/5

No restrictions. Gravel car park. Generally quiet night. Few cars pulled in and out late on, but no bother. No amenities. Free. Please take your rubbish home. Right hand side of car park is for Quarry staff, they come in about 7am but loads of space on the left for 20 Campervans. Good place to park if you want to visit the Nine ladies standing stones.

  • 5/5

Beautiful remote location next to Stanton Moor and a short walk to the village of Birchover with 2 brilliant pubs and public toilets (currently closed due to pandemic but pubs are friendly and happy to help) Very friendly and welcoming village. Stayed here 2 nights with no hassle or issues, first night only ones there, 2nd night few other campers arrived but still very quiet.

  • 5/5

Stayed one night. Busy with walkers on the Sunday but quiet by dusk. Would stay again. Lovely walks.

  • 5/5

We stayed here for one night. It was very quiet and we had the car park to ourselves. Convenient for walking.

  • 5/5

Super Tagesbeginn!

  • 4/5

Good quiet place with excellent access to local walks. Few vans parked up overnight and from about 8.30am walkers started arriving. Would definitely stay here again.

  • 3/5

Quiet, good for walks on the Moor and to see the stone circle. No facilities.

  • 5/5

Great little spot. nice and flat spent two nights there. you have got a bit of noise from the quarry in the day but nothing more than a humb and we couldn't hear it inside the van.

  • 4/5

Great place, very quiet, plenty of spaces. Free no restrictions . A ten min walk to the pub. And some good walks inc The Nine Ladies Stones.

  • 5/5

Stay here often with no issues at all. Two local pubs a short walk down the road. Lots of great places to walk including Nine Ladies Stone Circle and Rowtor Rocks. Full signal too

  • 4/5

Quiet flat overnight parking, reasonable view

  • 4/5

Flat quiet overnight parking, moderate view

  • 5/5

Great spot. Quite remote, easy access to footpath. Steepish approach and tight bend from the main road, but no issues for 7.5 metre mh.

  • 4/5

Stayed here on a Friday night good quiet night. Quarry was open in the morning but wasn't that load.

  • 5/5

Stopped here for 1 night. Car park busy on a Sunday afternoon (handy for Stanton Moor) but everyone left by 4pm and it was very quiet all night. A very quiet road. Barely heard quarry workers arriving in morning at opposite end of car park.

  • 5/5

Great nights sleep and a great spot to start off an early morning walk around Staunton Moor.
