BEWARE! It was 2pm in the afternoon. I was having a nap and woke up to an old couple trying my door and saying it's locked we could have had that (maybe they seen something they wanted to steal) I watched them on my cctv walking down the road trying doors and looking in vans. they continued to walk towards the caravan park .if they'd have tried that early morning they wouldn't be walking again.

love it here Beautiful walk down to the beach and a few campers parked up as well and quite. thank for sharing this place

  • 4/5

now have pillars to stop people abusing the spot. please stop ruining it for other people. living in a van is getting harder and harder. such a shame

  • 5/5

great spot with fantastic coastal views. plenty of space for multiple vans, parked along the side of an unused road. toilets by the beach were closed until April. would stay again.

  • 5/5

Great place to park up, nice views, pub over the road, nisa on the static park and a washer/dryer if required, peaceful couple of nights.

30/07/22 - Despite some of the negative reviews decided to brave it. Luckily had no trouble was going to park up to the right of the surf shop at first but there’s a few tourer caravans worse for where as mentioned in some of the other reviews that look like a permanent set up. There is flat spots but there was a lot of campers clustered there so parked further along where it wasn’t so flat. Plenty of spaces. Respect the spot to keep it for others!

This is a great stopover but is being ruined by people not respecting the area. Unfortunately I cannot post a picture but when we arrived there was a van with gas bottle outside and massive Ariel pinned up, table and chairs spread all over taking up 3 bays! If your staying in your van it should be self contained.

  • 3/5

Looked more like a residential site than a spontaneous stop-over area. Some of the people there were staying for the week. Can't fault the location, Cayton Bay on your doorstep which is a lovely bay and the Cleveland Way passes through the field next to you, but I wouldn't use again, at least not in school holiday season.

  • 3/5

Few vehicles parked up but still quiet, no amenities. Beach in walking distance, view is lovely

  • 5/5

Stayed here during the summer last year. Very quiet. Would definitely stay again.

  • 1/5

This area has become overused and as a result is not the peaceful place it once was. Also be very careful if you park on the verge because if there are double yellows on the road in front the wardens do regularly ticket people.

  • 4/5

Very quiet spot but got busy with campers late on. no problem though. didn’t notice till i woke up.

  • 5/5

Good quiet night here.. Yes there is a few vans.. And 2 caravans look permenant but no issues.. Great view.. Great walk down to beach. Its a free stop.. Phone signal with 3 was OK.. TV reception was OK... Would stay here again

Drove by lots of what looked like permanent caravans & motorhomes parked up. we decided it wasn't for us, so moved on to Scarborough, 10 mins up the road.

I recently stayed here on the way up the coast, a nice beach, but the road was very busy with camper vans parked for the night , I assume the local surfers are not happy with the situation as I had a ‘phallus’ scrawled on my van window in surf wax . It was also noisy with motorbikes deliberately revving past in the night . Wasn’t worth saving the £15 campsite fee.I won’t be returning to the area.

We stopped here recently it's local to us but a nice get away by the sea only this stop was different wasn't peaceful like last time. We were woken up early by revving motorbikes and horn blowing. My Mrs was very intimidated by there appearance (one clearly had greasy long grey unwashed hair under his helmet and thuggish sleeveless leather jacket on), obvious anger at us campers we left early

  • 4/5

We stayed one night with no problems. Most motorhomes were parked together on the verges at the bottom of the hill. We went up the road and although it is quite a slope there is a sufficiently level stretch. Views were limited by hedges but a few metres walk brings you to great views and walks.

  • 5/5

We have stayed here loads of times and never had a problem, stunning views and lovely quiet little road. perfect for staying on the sea front and travelling to the different towns near by.

Once WAS!! a lovely little stop for a night. We used to stop here on our long journey down country and always looked forward to parking up for the night and enjoying the peace and quiet with wonderful views until last weekend when we awoke to 4 males in a group all stood round another young ladies vehicle (I don’t need to explain what was happening use your imagination ) .We won’t be returning

Not a safe place, we have never had a more nervous night away, the 'vanners next to us had their van damaged and someone put dog poo on our door handles. We have been here before but will never use again, we spoke to others and they have had similar experiences lately Never seen out like it.

  • 4/5

Quite. 4 other Van's parked up. little road noise from main rd behind. once van doors closed could not hear. felt safe. brilliant views

  • 5/5

Stayed here Friday 9.7.21 with my dog Ziggy. Walked down through the woods and back along the beach .. good access but cows in field and some steep decents might put people off. Walked on to use toilet and showers about 9pm by surfers shack .. but sign said locked overnight due to lack of respect Quite busy .. about 8 other vans .. but nice and peaceful all night. I will use again.

Lovely spot, had a very peaceful night here. Curious to know what “the issue” was in the review below. We had no issues for the record.

  • 5/5

We stayed hear twice everyone really friendly great views 10 min from beach there is a pub just over the road never been but been told its nice defo going back

  • 4/5

A nice spot if you want to be sociable with campers, surfers and walkers. The vans are constantly arriving and leaving. Just be aware of the issue. I can't mention the issue because the moderator deleted my review that brought it to your attention...As long as you know about the issue, you'll be fine.

Great views, bit of a slope but levelling blocks sort this, handy for cayton bay and Cleveland way.... if it's windy expect a buffeting....

  • 5/5

Parked for 1 night with no problems, about 10 other campervans around

  • 3/5

One night stay august 20 no problems. Quite busy, if you have big outfit go on road above surf school loads more space.

  • 5/5

Great spot to get to the beach. surf shop has toilets for 20p bottom of qalkway to beach free if open due to season. great sunrise view.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for our first night away in our newly converted camper van. Perfect spot to watch the sunrise & sunset! Was quite busy with around 10 motorhomes and camper vans when we arrived at around 7pm but we managed to get parked. Lucy’s beach shack & toilets open in the daytime down the hill to the beach which was handy!

  • 4/5

Quite a lot of campers park here which meant we were parked on the road but it is a no through road so was fine. Nice views

  • 5/5

Spent our first night in our newly converted camper here. Lovely place to stay, great views. Parking is by the side of the road but, it is a no through road which is pretty quiet.

  • 4/5

Stayed here for a night, couple of other campers and surfers coming and going. Nice Beach just down the hill. Near a roundabout, but couldn’t hear the traffic.

  • 5/5

Stayed for one night, was 4 other vans staying over, police turned up early doors but was happy as we are full timers and wished us a pleasant night! parked just off road on grass verge, lovely views and beautiful beach 5-10 mins walk. will be returning soon

  • 5/5

We stayed here for 1 night, it's got lovely views and you can clearly see Sunrise/Sunsets. Theres cows on the field but they are no harm. You can see the sea clear, there are no bins so take your rubbish with you.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for 1 night. loved it! nature reserve for the dog.

  • 5/5

Great, simple, lots of space. no issues.

  • 5/5

Great place to stay, toilets just down hill towards beach and a good pub (The Tow Bar) just across the island)

  • 5/5

Pulled up in the dark and already quite a few motorhomes on the grassed area but plenty of room on the road. Quiet night. Slid the door open in morning to sea views. Don't be put off by proximity to roundabout.

  • 5/5

Stayed Here For 3 Nights Great Views Local To Beach Lovely Walks Will Be Visiting Again :)

  • 4/5

Nice place, space for about 5 or 6 vans if everyone backs in. Had a great chat with everyone there. There is a bit of road noise, can't hear it once in van.
