Lovely area with nice rock formations. Flat surface then declines as road continues. Lots of rubbish when we went, please help keep it tidy!

Nice parkup! Pretty quiet and nice views. Recommended.

Really lovely spot - gorgeous views and very quiet. I arrived around 9am & only one car and one other campervan. Phone signal was decent even at the top of the hill! Small amount of rubbish but a ranger came and collected it all :) peaceful place. Took my dog for a walk up the hill, the views are incredible!

  • 5/5

Such a great place to stay! There was one other van there but there is plenty of space and we each had our privacy. The rocks are amazing and the views even better! Would definitely recommend this spot!

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

We stayed here on 09/04. Quiet lay-by and straight onto Ramshaw Ridge for our walk in the morning. Would stop again.

  • 5/5

Really easily accessible park up with some amazing views. Would definitely recommend as there was a beautiful sunrise in the morning. We were the only camper on a Saturday night 21/01/23. Just not the best signal or 4g on vodafone/smarty/EE

  • 5/5

Stopped here christmas eve, very pleasant. quiet area, phone signal and 4g great (vodaphone). lovely views and a great little walk for the dog in the morning!

  • 4/5

Great lay-by, room for a few, no facilities - 4G on EE was 2 bar max, amazing views and walks right next to the rocks, peaceful overnight

  • 5/5

Lovely layby on narrow road, room is for only about 4 or 5 vehicles, only small Motorhomes or Campervans. Popular with climbers in the morning

  • 5/5

Amazing stay over. Beautiful scenery. No disturbance and no traffic on a night time. Great walks over the rocks. Over all very peaceful time.

  • 5/5

stayed here 2 weeks ago . fantastic views around. Nice little walk opposite. loads of space for motorhomes and campers . road alittle tight from both ways but I got my 6m M/H up there

  • 5/5

Absolutely gorgeous spot. Managed to get here for sunset and woke up to watch the sun rise. It was very busy and took a while to get a spot but as it's the height of summer what can you expect. great 4g (EE). as mentioned by others, flat at the top and then slopes down. lots of climbers early in the morning, looks like a fab place to climb

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night, perfect spot. Road was not busy at all. Beautiful views around and great internet signal. What more could you want hey

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot, mostly level, good phone signal and quiet, (one other van on a Monday night) perfect for walks into the rocks, Luds Church or over the ridge. A little rubbish from dirty toilet paper in the bushes but otherwise a perfect spot, will definitely return.

  • 5/5

nice spot, best to park top end but not too much slope all along. stopped here for two nights and had peace and quiet, a few late evening stargazers and early morning dig walkers but even on good friday there was space.

  • 5/5

Wonderful views. For a quintessential Peak District outing.

  • 5/5

Stayed here in October. It was absolutely hammering it down but the sky’s in the morning were beautiful. Wonderful view of the rocks and surrounding cliff top. Not a bother from anyone. Be aware the hills are rather steep getting there though if you have an old camper like myself you’ll need some wellie to get up the hills.

  • 4/5

Busy during the day. Spent last night here and there was cars arriving late and a bit of noise as a Saturday night. No issues so happy to stay again. All parking is in a single file line. Rocks to one side and sweeping views to the valley the other. Took a few photos but can’t seem to add.

  • 5/5

This was an amazing location. So quiet and beautiful. A couple were having their wedding pics taken when we arrived. Check out when sunset is and take the 2 min walk up the rocks to enjoy it (can be a bit windy). So worthwhile. Hardly any traffic and we had the place to ourselves all night. The turn off the main road can catch you unawares so look for the house there as a landmark.

  • 5/5

Amazing view, especially if you climb up the rocks for sunset. Slightly busy spot but worth it for the views. Fairly level. Got some amazing photos (sorry don’t know how to add them).

  • 5/5

Absolutely stunning place, was quiet too and plenty of space for the dogs and children to run around.

  • 5/5

A marvellous spot with a great view and a stones throw from the rocks to explore. Sadly, it was busy with annoying day trippers when we arrived at 5pm. There was bhangra party in the quite road for 20 minutes at 8pm and the number of people walking upto the rocks carrying bottles etc yet coming down empty handed was criminal. Still by dusk they'd all gone and we had the whole layby by ourselves.

  • 5/5

Been here a few times, always very busy (7 vans last night). Brilliant parkup though, gorgeous views and lots of space for the dog to play and explore on ramshaw rocks. Enjoyed sitting on the rocks in the dark too taking in the views before settling to bed. Fantastic little gem of a place - please keep looking after it so we can keep enjoying it!

  • 5/5

Fantastic peaceful night spent here. 2 other van's. spent an afternoon and night here. lovely park up. would recommend.

  • 5/5

Awesome spot great views stayed one night no problems lovely walks

  • 3/5

Beautiful spot but rammed, got parked in by people and couldn't get out, teenagers screaming on the rocks till 11, possibly nice during the week but wouldn't go on a weekend.

  • 5/5

Stayed here one night in our van. Stunning views and a beautiful sunset. Great walks up in the rocks. 10/10 spot. Very quiet road. Had a few day visitors but all left at a decent time. Could fit 4/5 vans here pretty comfy. There were two other vans there when we were there. Plenty of space. Would definitely recommend!

  • 5/5

Stunning lay-by on the side of a tiny country Lane. Gorgeous views and loads of fantastic walks nearby. Woke up to the sounds of a cuckoo and a pheasant croaking in the bracken. Recommended!

  • 5/5

Staying here tonight with three other vans and a monstrous mobile home. Fortunately we’ve got one of the more level spots. Generally quiet, there should be no nighttime traffic, with great views and good for a bit of walking. Only downside was a couple of vans running there engines during the night probably for the heater, next time bring some thermals and a blanket!

  • 5/5

Stayed there last night 14/04/21 absolutely great nice and quiet caught the sunrise and the sunset

  • 5/5

Stunning views but very exposed to high winds

  • 5/5

We stayed here on the 27.02.21 and it was beautiful. We got there at around 3 and it was quite busy so we parked a bit further down the road. By 6:30 everyone had gone and we had the road to ourselves. A great spot for a sunrise and sunset

  • 5/5

Brilliant place!! I was lucky enough to arrive when it was sunny, and wow... the view!! Some local kids came round in the evening to hang out but I chatted with them and they were lovely. Keep this place clean 15/12/2020

  • 5/5

The Rouches as the rocks are know are a spectacular walk, for those who have watched the movie Pride & Prejudice will know the place well. Ideal place to park with a number of routes up to the Rouches.

  • 5/5

Really enjoyed the views, and to get up early a wonder on the rocks as the sun came up was magical. Definitely coming back here. Very quiet too.

  • 5/5

Great views. Extremely windy but stayed here two nights. Great phone signal. Quiet road.

  • 5/5

Awesome views! A little bit blustery overnight due to the exposure, but definitely worth it!!

  • 5/5

Awesome views with some wicked rock structures to climb. Quiet nights rest, will def stay again

  • 5/5

This place rocks (pun intended)!! We stayed at this stop for two nights to make the most of the surrounding landscape. We climbed multiple rocks and sat on top of one of the highest to watch the sunset (this spot looks directly out to the west where the sun goes down!!!). There were other campers at this stop on both nights. On our second night, the police came to check that everyone was okay so that felt very safe! This spot is a short drive from Leek where we were able to stock up on supplies. 10/10 would stay again.

  • 5/5

Perfectly peaceful place for an overnight. I'll go out of my way to it. On a clear night, the sky is even quite dark for some star gazing. Often 1 or 2 other polite campers.

  • 5/5

Great spot for both day and night

  • 4/5

A couple of more level places. We were lucky and got one near the bottom. A quiet spot when it got darker. Lots of people popping along for an evening walk to the rocks. A nice view of the roaches.

  • 4/5

Used this layby July 2020. We tried a few other places about 30 mins radius and settled on this one. it was quiet, we slept with the van doors open to allow fresh air. we have a dog and she was happy wandering around the van, very little traffic.

  • 5/5

Excellent views. It's a popular spot with vans and cars parked when we arrived and it looks like there might not always be a space available. Spaces freeded up later in the evening. Two other vans also spent the night.

  • 5/5

Quiet with great views. Day visitors arrive in the morning. Some farm traffic

  • 5/5

Great views. Very quiet. Parked up with no problems. Day visitors arrive first thing in the morning. Some farm traffic.

  • 5/5

Awesome location, with some lovely short walks over the rocks nearby. Stayed one night. There were a few “youths” who used this spot, some weed smokers around 11pm, and then more around 2am.. no issues, either time, just slightly disruptive for sleeping kids. Was another van there when we stayed which was nice company.

Spot parfait
