Stayed over for a Saturday night and I cannot recommend the Pub enough The bar staff was brilliant, friendly and very welcoming to our dog Derek. locals was friendly too. Food was amazing. Definitely stay again. ps don't be fooled by outside, inside was a typical country pub thanks Richard and staff
Great pub, great beer and great food. Make sure you are hungry when you arrive, the porsions are enormous. Slightly sloping car park and the nearby road can be noisy in the morning WiFi and TV reception is good
Stopped here in the Motorhome, absolutely fantastic food and everyone was so nice. The place looks tired but stick with it and enjoy.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Martin was brilliant and the chicken burger is amazing! The pie was the best my husband has tasted! Quiet night in the car park too.
really recommend this spot. pub owners so genuine and helpful. attitude is, park up and use the pub. excellent food, nice locals. couldn't be more accommodating. we did phone ahead which I agree is considerate.
Please ring ahead, it's just polite. Good location, reasonably flat spaces and brilliant food. if you are going to stay you do need to get a meal and a drink there. they have dietary adjustments, and are really nice people! We went, played pool and sat chatting for a couple hours - would stay again. dog friendly.
Wirklich nettes Pub und sehr gutes Steak&Ale Pie. Leider unter der Woche sehr leer und etwas trist. Parken über Nacht kein Problem! Sehr freundliche Betreiber. An der Straße wurde es morgens etwas laut.
Saw this on the app by whilst looking for a place to stop whilst exploring the Cumbrian coast. Phoned up and was made to feel very welcome. This welcome continued when we arrived. Had a nice meal and beer. Would thoroughly recommend.
Rang ahead as carpark not too big,8m motorhome no problem. Very welcoming staff and locals.Had a beautiful Sunday lunch and some fantastic beer.def stay again.
Stayed here for the night in the carpark. Was nice and quiet, friendly locals, welcoming pub staff and incredible food. We were even allowed to leave the van in the carpark for most of the next day while we went on a big mountain bike ride. Book ahead if you want a table to eat.
Intrigued by the good reviews and in need of a good meal, we called ahead and spoke to the owner who was really accommodating. We parked up for the night, not before having some amazing food and a few drinks. The carpark was quiet at night and we had a great sleep before heading off early the next day. would definitely come back.
Went for a night in my campervan, with my son. Manager is a super lovely bloke, as were the other staff. Its free as long as you eat at the pub. The fish and chips were thee best I've had. Manager has plans to put in more spaces to park on the back field. Definitely keeping this one for future trips when I'm in the area. My son was entertained by the cat and cows.
Stopped here on 21/08 after a long day climbing Scafell pike, called ahead to check availability on short notice for 2 vans and they were more than accommodating. The staff and the locals were very welcoming. Food was excellent. I would recommend stopping here to anyone for the food or the night
I checked ahead of time. Great pub, food was very nice and the staff were great. A very friendly pub and the landlord was sound and fine with the dogs. Highly recommend here, it's got a view of the sea and is near some beaches and a good spot to get to the less tourist-trap Western Lakes (Ennerdale isn't far from here and is unspoilt - you have it to yourself). Would stay overnight again.

Nice beer garden, dog friendly and amazing food! Sat watching wild deer in the adjacent field. Off main road but quiet in the evening.
Rang the pub first to check. Very welcoming staff, really delicious food and good ale! Peaceful location car park overlooks a nice field at the back.
Fabulous little spot, phoned first to see if they would allow us to stay in the car park over night - not a problem at all! Had a really good meal and several drinks! Really nice beer garden and outside space, parked in a corner of the car park out of the way and had a quiet nights sleep! Welcoming staff and locals, and a spot I would definitely use again!!
