Windermere ,
There are a few lay-bys and places to park up on the grass along this road, before you enter Bowness-on-Windermere. The road is fairly busy during the day, but is much quieter after midnight. Stayed the night without problems. It is not perfect, but free parking spaces in the area are quite rare. About 10-15 minutes walk to Bowness-on-Windermere and the tourist area with marina, cafés and restaurants etc. There are paid public toilets one hundred metres away, in the Rayrigg Meadow car park - but temporarily out of order at the time of writing this.
