Piece of old road now a lay by off the A6. Superb views of the Wye valley and gorges. Walks into the valley from here.
5 minute walk downhill to the start of the Monsal Trail & bike hire shop.
No facilities and used to by trucks. Some places level enough for overnight stop.

What a stunning spot. beautiful walks and surroundings. really good sleep with it being very quiet despite the main road. only a few lorries when we stayed (2 nights). There is 4g/5g on EE. definitely stay again.

Great place to park for the monsal trail but noisy at night as its used by loads of truckers. some arriving late and leaving early hours or some park for a short break in the middle of the night and they're off again. stayed 23.11.23

We didn't sleep here. Could be a bit noisy and it is slopy (one other van seemed to be okay with wedges), but it's a great spot to start your pleasant walk to the stepping stones (don't be put off by how steep it seems). Nice for a stop.

Location: A cozy layby with epic view! Close to the stepping stones and Monsal Trail. Vibe: Cozy and safe (traffic isn't too loud) WiFi: 21.41 Mbps on our Netgear Nighthawk on 3mobile. -ATransitCalledTurtle

Great place to stop and have lunch overlooking the valley. It is used by lots of trucks and can be noisy.

I have lost count of times driven past without realising the potential of this spot. Four other campervans/motorhomes on the lay-by, without feeling crowded. Arrived in drizzly dusk so surprised by quality of views in morning. Quiet.

Lovely views just off a6, loads of room used by another truck while we was using it. Sone people had dumped rubbish which spoils it, but otherwise really nice

Checked this space yesterday but it had parked up caravan with petrol generator and lits of rubbish surrounding at the end of the layby which put me off staying. any other time it looks an ok spot perhaps.

Stayed Xmas Eve, Great place not much traffic noise, however not quite flat and very very windy as on edge of the hill. Would be a 5 in summer time. Just waiting for the sun to rise to take a pic of the view

Good little stop over. Hovering over the Cheedale plenty of access to gorgeous walks. Beautiful views. It is close to the road so a little noise.

Sunday night busy when we arrived at 17:00 but once all the walkers had returned and left just us and one artic, plenty of room and great views. Good footwear recommended if you take a walk down the the beginning/end of the Monsal Trail, bike hire available. There was a little litter but we picked and bagged it before we left. ///simulations.bagpipes.remit is the What3words

Settling in for the night and so far it’s been great; this layby is separated from the main road by an island of vegetation and trees. About 20m away from the minimal passing traffic. Long layby suitable for maybe three HGVs but my van is the only vehicle here. Only seen the silhouette of the view as darkness fell but looks like it’ll be amazing in the morning. Handy sightseers’ info board.

Quiet lay-by with absolutely stunning views! Two other vans parked up. No facilities but within close distance of public toilets. Peaceful nights sleep and definitely worth it just for the views!

Lovely spot! we stayed here for a night on a weekday. the road is fairly quiet during the night. 1 van and 1 car were there as well. the laybay is used as a parkingspot for hikers. the area is beautiful! chee dale, Monsal Trail. we walked to Beech Croft Farm campsite (20 mins) for breakfast in Daisy Cafe(open for non guests) also used the loos. the layby has no bins, quite a bit of rubbish.

Loved this spot, the view is fab, great nights sleep!

Ample parking in the lay by. Get there early as it does fill up. Busy road nearby but so worth the walks around the area along the river. Recommended. Keep tidy.
