Two lay-bys on cres of a hill backed by woodland with a national trust footpath. The 1st lay-by is flat with a view in-land to Yorkshire Dales and Ingleton. 2nd lay-by is sloped with views over Morcombe bay and The Lake District on a clear day. Road is completely pitch black at night, no street lamps so is good for stealth camping, also fairly quiet, one car passes every 30 minutes or so. We were also able to connect to 3G/4G signal.

stayed 1 night, top lay by better, as it's more level, great nights sleep, traffic is minimal upto 9/10pm then barely any traffic at all, highly recommend, would defo stay again.

Lovely quiet spot with grass in between road and parking spot on lower lay by. Relatively exposed.

  • 3/5

Really windy night exposed on hillside. Otherwise, lovely location and great walks. Road noise quiet between 9pm and 7am

Stayed one night here the 5th of June lovely and quiet night not very much traffic at all after 8 pm and before 7 am will come back

Beautiful stop. We arrived very late and were the only ones here. Not even but it didn’t bother us. Plenty of space for our huge 7.5m van. Very little road noise and we woke up to sheep and watched hares chasing each other around the fields. No bins or amenities but good phone signal with o2. Lovely. Thank you for sharing.

Really liked it here! Great views. Beautiful walks. 4G is a plus. A bit of traffic and a few dog walkers as expected.

Stayed last night, would highly recommend. The top lay-by is flatter, but the lower one is larger, short walk into Arnside.

Third time here and fabulous as ever. Peaceful, beautiful views. Unusually quiet for August, no other vans. Perfect to nip up Arnside Knott before breakfast, for one of the best views in the UK. Will be back.

Few cars drive past, had someone from the cottage below come to us with some bull story asking had we seen some lad who had smashed their car, didn't make sence so no doubt checking up on us, decide to leave as it felt a bit sketchy

Great night sleep, very quiet road and we had no issues pulling in at around 9pm at night. You have to find the right space for it to be flat.

Lovely peaceful spot with view of the bay. The flat layby is preferable but was fully occupied when we arrived. The other is sloping but wider, and ok if you don't mind your partner squashing you in the night!

Great Spot, the local town of Arnot is very un friendly towards Camper vans, signs everywhere asking local residents to snitch on the overnighters !.. this spot is 2mins out of the town. Very quiet spot only a couple of cars up to about 10:30pm. Recomended.

As already said , 2 great lay-bys with fab views right next to the entrance to a national trust walking area with loads of wildlife and deer. Stated overnight no problems. Road got quiet later on.

Really pretty view and peaceful first thing in the morning - we didn’t stay overnight but parked, had a walk with the dogs then came back and made lunch overlooking the fields - got busier with National Trust visitors by lunchtime, but a really nice place to stay. We’ll be back for an overnight!

Had a lovely, quiet sleep, except we went in -6°C so was very cold. Spot is very dark at night but is good for stargazing, we managed to see Orion’s Belt and even Mars!

Stayed here and lovely spot, no bother from anyone, get the sun in the morning, had to stay in the sloping lay-by and that was ok without levellers

You can see past Arnside Tower to Heysham Nuclear Power station across the bay in the distance.
