Beautiful track-side strip of grass off a side road with spectacular view. Close-ish to M74 for quick overnight stop, but far enough away to be perfectly quiet. Also, we found by coincidence that it is right on the Annandale way - a 90km hiking route with lovely views across the hills. This is a wild site with no services.

Great overnight stop! Greeted by cows in the morning all around the van, lots of waterworks vans came in the AM which was when I moved on but overnight was perfect, beautiful views and very quiet

  • 5/5

Excellent spot for an overnight stay and beautiful morning view.

  • 5/5

room for 3 motorhomes. very quiet road. mobile service and Internet on O2 was great. a room with a view.

  • 4/5

I would give this spot 5 stars as its in a beautiful place & ideal for a sleep on the way to /from the Highlands, but was rudely awoken by cows surrounding the car, my dog barked & the little angry bull headbutted the car leaving a dent & scratches. No real harm done. Will make a good story from my travels once the heart stops racing haha!

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Really nice stop over close to M74. You can still hear the M a bit but it’s a constant noice which didn’t bother me much. In total 3 cars came in the evening. The people enjoyed the view from their car. They left after a while. The night was quiet. There is still construction stuff parked up but the 2 workers who came around 8am didn’t get bothered by me obviously. I wasn’t in their way.

    Aktuell ist hier eine Baustelle

  • 5/5

Nice quiet spot very close to motorway

  • 5/5

Great quiet location, just a bit muddy

  • 5/5

an amazing view and literally 5 minutes off the motorway, bit wet this time of year so jad to be careful no to get stuck but was fine. absolute gem of a spot for overnight then continue your motorway journey.

  • 5/5

Parfait pour une nuit, jolie vue, calme. Nous étions 3 véhicules. Le paysan nous a salué, on recommande !

  • 5/5

    perfect for one night!

  • 5/5

Very quiet road, grassy area with space for two vehicles max. Slight slope, but not a problem. Excellent view to wake up to!

  • 4/5

Kein touristischer Hotspot, eher The Middle of Nowhere.

  • 5/5

lovely place to spend the night, not far off the highway. good view, cows passing by, few cars.

  • 5/5

Great view. Had the spot to ourselves for the night. 3 bars of 4g. Very close to the motorway for an overnight but is actually really quiet. Would go again. Turned around in the road with a 3 (or 5..) point turn (have a LWB van) - not sure if there's turning further up the road (it's single-track).

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Just a few cars and mobile homes passed in the evening and night. Great view

  • 3/5

Careful. This is a dry weather park up! We tried 12 Feb 22 , rain had turned it into a bog, no chance of escape without 4x4…. Couldn’t add photos but they’d have shown muddy furrow’s and skid marks from people trying to get off or on the park up . Drove about a mile further up and found a more substantial space. Not the same level of view but nice and really quiet.

  • 4/5

really convenient just off motor way as a stop over driving back from Scotland. Very quite and in the country side. only two issues were pot holes, which were really bad going up the hill so if you're anything quite big it could be a challenge and worth driving slowly. it's also on quite a steep hill so it's worth looking around for the flatter areas if they're not already taken .

  • 5/5

Quiet, beautiful views, easy access. What more could I want.

  • 4/5

A good one for a stopover with some views and walks around. Was full by morning. No facilities.

  • 5/5

Such wonderful views wow! I was not expecting that!! Just up a dirt road amongst the cows on a little grassy parking spot. Has a cute little bench to sip coffee on. Great spot and we had it all to ourselves!

  • 4/5

Great spot, close enough to the motorway for an easy overnight but not too close for road noise as others have said. Space for maybe 3 vans but only 2 flat spaces. Beware of the cows, we were woken up by them licking and rubbing up against the van. Really nice spot though with great views. The road up to here is is a single track and has a few big potholes but nothing too serious.

  • 5/5

Incredible views and a very quiet nights stay. Two other vehicles also joined but everyone was very quiet and respectful

  • 5/5

Gorgeous view and very quiet. We are enjoyed watching the calves coming up and down the hill. The little bench was lovely for cooking. Another car and van turned up later than us and everyone was polite but kept themselves to themselves. The spot was well kept and no waste.

  • 5/5

So close to M74 but up in the hills so very little road/railway noise. Stayed overnight, one other campervan arrived late, and otherwise very little traffic. No facilities but THE BEST VIEWS!

  • 5/5

Quiet night with 3 other campers. 2x dog walkers at 6am but otherwise a nice stopover spot. There is a laundromat outside the back of the Esso in Moffat (£8 large load, £4 small load and a dryer).

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, just us and one other camper, flat enough with lovely views. Quiet road, a few cars went by but not a problem. Would definitely stop if driving north through Scotland again.

  • 5/5

We parked up here for the night, turned around easily breaking up our journey between Yorkshire Dales and Loch Lomond. Thanks for previous comments and for putting this spot on the map. Very quiet so far we’ve seen one runner and plenty of cows. Beautiful view.

  • 5/5

Great spot to spend a night. Surrounded by nature and love cows. No walkers or cars driving through the place, very quiet! Beware of the pot holes!

  • 5/5

What a stay, we stayed here coming back from Scotland and also going up to the highlands. We loved it, the view down is amazing with very little noise road of the motorway. The cows came to see us and was very friendly. Less than ten mins to Moffat to the nearby co-op. Highly recommend

  • 5/5

Absolutely beautiful place. Room for 2 easily. We have a 7m long motor home and was able to turn ok. Cows were very friendly, but only curious not dangerous. They soon lost interest and wandered off. Certainly worth stopping here if want somewhere out of the way.

  • 5/5

Beautiful place to park for the night. Very quiet and stunning views. We had motorhome and trailer and room for another van behind.

  • 5/5

Great spot, spectacular views and very quiet. Good firm grass to park our 6mmotorhome on at side of road, but would fit longer vehicle. Not sure how far a longer m/h would need to go to turn. As at 9am we have had 1 walker and a post office van pass us. Great for an overnight stop.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot for a stay over. Amazing views. Parked on a level spot close to the cattle grid not much traffic. Another van arrived after us and parked higher up the lane. Plenty of space and a good area for walking. Would recommend and stay again if up this area.

  • 5/5

    Great spot with amazing views.

  • 5/5

Great spot, very quiet just off crooked Lane, and 10mins away from motorway. Good stopover to break up a long drive, nobody else here that we could see, although we didn't actually stay in the exact location of this pin drip, somewhere else along crooked Lane, there are a few good specs by the look of it.

  • 4/5

Quiet uninterrupted night. One van here when we arrived but plenty of room. Slightly muddy, fantastic view to wake up to all the way down the valley!

  • 5/5

Great little spot on the grass verge . Very quiet very little road traffic and close to the motorway . No services

  • 3/5

Beautiful but not suitable for large motorhomes over 7 metres.

  • 5/5

Lovely Spot, peaceful, stopped for lunch

  • 5/5

It was a great find for an overnight stop on our way home to the Hebrides. About a mile & a half from M74 a small flat grassy site off single trail road with fantastic views above the small town of Beattock. Very quiet. Makes the journey so easy.

  • 5/5

Lovely place to stop, we drove about 2 miles down the road and stopped in a wooded area, there are plenty of places to stop

  • 5/5

The night I stayed there was 3 campers inc us. Lovely quiet spot. Beautiful view - will stay again.

  • 5/5

Quiet, no road noise and a great stop near the motorway between two service stations (10mins either way) Thanks park for night

  • 5/5

Perfect spot, quite and easy to get to, great views...

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Fab spot as so clise to the M74, but very quiet and wonderful views. We arrived in the dark, so actually missed the described spot but found a good one 0.2 miles further up, which had hard standing under the grassy verge.
