It's a really great place to watch the sunset over Swindon. Only a four mile walk into Avebury and can get busy at times.

  • 5/5

Nice place to spend a night with a lovely walk too. Rather exposed to the weather though and I had a very stormy night. There was another van nearby but I couldn't hear them over the wind and rain!

  • 5/5

excellent park up. no restrictions so can stay as long as you want. don't take any notice of others moaning about it here.

  • 2/5

This is NOT a campsite! Please do not over park.

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot on The Ancient Ridgeway with lovely views. Road not too busy. You can walk to Avebury in about an hour and a half right along the track. Few others here, especially around solstice and equinox.

  • 4/5

Very busy at the weekend with constant throughput during daylight with walkers. Wonderful views and circular walks. Large enough to get away from the road so felt comfortable with dogs although constant noise. 1 bar 4G on EE. Would stay again.

  • 3/5

Stayed last night, views are great, level for 3 or 4 vans, but cars driving the byways all night, so woken by cars on gravel road, quite exposed so windy, very busy with walkers

  • 4/5

Beautiful views - we woke up to snow! Quite a lot of visitors during the evening but nothing that made us feel unsafe.

  • 5/5

Perfect park up, nice and quiet and the views are amazing. It does get a bit busy but not for long.

  • 5/5

Me and my partner stayed here overnight in our camper. No restrictions about staying. Lovely view, specially to wake up to. Can be busy at times.

  • 5/5

Quiet, pretty safe and we weren't disturbed. Was car camping and it was a stormy wet windy night - felt like I was on a boat haha.

  • 5/5

stayed for Halloween '22 fab views, walks right there. we used it as a base to explore the area and come back too. incredible stars on a clear night. gets windy if the weather is bad but plenty of space and no hastle.

  • 5/5

Plenty parking. I was the only van but a few cars came and went. Def be back again. Lovely walks

  • 3/5

only stopped for a walk on my way home but other vans already parked up late afternoon. Would have been happy stayed if I'd have planned in another overnight stop. No signs limiting times you can park up. Probably has amazing views at other times of year but surrounding wheat fields had just been harvested so looked out over a bit of a waste land. Only given three stars as didn't stay overnight.

Lovely views from the ancient Ridgeway. Nice walks from the door. A crop circle on the opposite side of Barbury Hillfort was an added bonus. Lots of people about until around 10pm and the odd car through the night (or I'd have given a 5*). Three vans overnight. If I visited again I would venture off the car park and along the lane.

  • 5/5

Very pleasant stay here and the views are lovely.

  • 4/5

One side of the car park is level. Nice little spot but does get busy. We stayed overnight had quiet a few late night visitors in their cars playing music and trying to increase the population. Great views all the way round and the local ponies and cattle are friendly. White Horse is easy to get too. We had the added bonus of a Crop Circle appearing in the neighboring field.

We were lucky to park flat & watched the sunset over Wiltshire. Lovely views & walks up the Byways. A very peaceful night & we shared with 3 others . Will stop here again if in the area.

  • 3/5

We stayed here last night, and twice during the night groups of blokes turned up & started talking about our motorhome, saying things like "Maybe they're out or asleep". They disappeared when we started moving around & switching lights on. It's very busy on a sunny evening with people watching the sun set, but everyone left when it was dark.

  • 5/5

Perfect for an overnighter. Nice views, easy to reach. Very exposed if windy and lucky to get a level spot.

  • 5/5

Not a bad place if you can find a flat bit.

  • 5/5

Nice park up, no amenties but relatively quiet. just the odd dog walker in the morning. nice view of the canal. entrance is just as 1 or two metres past the traffic lights that control traffic over the bridge

  • 5/5

I came up here to see the white horse on the hillside. The Ridgeway runs through here a 5000 year old road. This whole area is steeped in ancient history, it's fascinating. So this place is basically a carpark on a hill, only one side is flat but there are enough spaces for several motorhomes. Quite busy with dog walkers during the day but quiet at night. A beautiful spot to spend the night

Stopped off in the rain. Great view. No issues with parking in October. Very little noise. Another van parked up beside me. safety in Numbers. Lovely walks, handy for the dog. Didn't see a bin, and there are no facilities so went for an adventure pee with the dog. Free Parking so...!!!

  • 4/5

Good place to stop off for a night. The odd coming and going through the night but nothing to worry about. Busy when we arrived 7ish Friday. Had to wait to get a flat spot.

  • 4/5

Having a great time at this parking spot been here 25 minutes and the wind has slammed our motorhome door in to my partner knocking him off his feet and making him fall onto the table his still laid on the floor I can’t help because I’m laughing to much apart from this good spot

  • 3/5

No services. Fairly flat gravel parking. A few cars came and went on a Saturday night, flashing headlights but quiet night. No teenagers. Carpark isn’t as wide as the pictures suggest so we parked side on. Car park full on a wet and windy February Sunday morning so would advise you park in such a way that it’s easy to drive out and not get blocked in.

  • 2/5

A lot of drunk or just annoying young people in the middle of the night. Normally its not a problem for us, we do have a good sleep and good earplugs. But these kids had fireworks and made a lot of noise for hours.

  • 5/5

Good place to stop, gravel parking area off road with far reaching views and right next to the ridgeway. Around eight vehicles there until sunset then had it to myself all night bar some kids pulling in around 1am for a bit but didn’t bother me. Walkers & cyclists from the morning. Nice part of the world

  • 4/5

Great view, if you park on your left as you drive in its flat. Stayed on a Sunday night. Only slight issue was it was pretty busy with people meeting up in cars to hang out/play music but they left after dark.

  • 5/5

This car park is Hackpen Hill. One side is level with wonderful countryside views. the other side is sloping. great place to stop for a night with a nice easy walk to Banbury Castle. A busy car park during the day used by walkers, but during the evening / night only a couple of cars came on then drove off.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Car passes every 5 mins. Fairly level. Kites and skylark abound. 2 bar on 4g.

  • 3/5

Nice spot at the start of a byway. The byway has restriction dates or motor vehicles but the park up car park is fine for all year. There are some amazing views from this spot and it is close to the stone circles near by that are well worth a visit.

    Super!

  • 4/5

Large gravel car park. Bit exposed and windy, with some flat spots and nice landscape

  • 4/5

    Ruhig, windig, tolle Aussicht
