Surrounded by nature

Moularès, Unnamed Road

Follow Notre-Dame de Puy de Bar. Small flat car park very little used. Be careful, access is difficult. The path going up there is very steep and full of holes. The larger motorhomes will not pass. Overlooking the village of Moularès at an altitude of almost 600m, this rocky promontory offers a pretty point of view (photo 3). You will be able to see Albi, Carmaux, Cap Découverte ... Fabulous to admire the fireworks of July 14th. It was in 1881 that Father Bataillé began to erect a statue of the Virgin at the top of the massif (photo 2). With the help of the parishioners, the village is adorned with this cast iron statue whose weight reaches 1,300 kg and which measures 3.24 meters. Each year, on the occasion of the town feast (around August 15), the traditional pilgrimage has brought together around a hundred people since 1981. In 1983, the statute was struck by lightning and shattered into pieces. The reaction of the population is unanimous: it must be fixed. Thus, she was given a granite altar from Sidobre and she was back on her feet on September 11 of the same year. The place is located on a hiking or mountain biking trail called the "Grand Huit de Moularès" (photo 4). The circuit follows two loops (10 and 13km) which meet at Moularès. Some climbing routes 50m from the car park (photo 5). -Services area for motorhomes in Tanus (5min). -Supermarkets in Carmaux or Naucelle (15min) -Aire du Viaduct du Viaur at 15min -Bathing in the lake of Roucarié (20min) -Camping from Thuriès to Pampelonne (20min). Swimming, barbecue, covered area, toilets ... car park closed at 11pm. Ruins of the castle of Thuriès with a nice viewpoint. -Albi at 30min, Rodez at 40min -Good 4G reception -Shade all day while moving a little
