A great spot by the beach for daytime parking. Chem drop and bins but no grey waste or water point. BEWARE At night it turns into a racetrack for boy racers, so not safe to stay overnight. Our kids were crying with fear and dogs howling with anxiety, so we had to leave. Council and police are aware of the ongoing problems at the site but have failed to find an effective solution.

  • 3/5

Spoke with a council person who confirmed that both day and night are free to stay until April. Between April and Sept it is a paying site. However he also said that the hoons will keep us up doing dumb hoon stuff just like the other comments that have previously been made. We stayed during the day and made our way to the other end of the beach at night.

  • 3/5

good wee spot. stayed there Friday night. good views and good for kids as very close to park and amusements etc. very good Indian at the end of parking area. waste disposal and bins which is good. public toilets are there at 30p to enter. bad points is speed bumps there MASSIVE. young team with there cars are loud didn't bother me tho, I still heard TV and slept.

  • 3/5

Stayed last night. Free day parking & £10 from 6pm - 9am. Toilet waste facility in semi submerged blue tank in corner next to bins. Can use free if not staying overnight. Noise started 8pmish - car doing donuts far end of car park (away from our m/h!) cars coming and going - revving engines etc. One parked near us, music playing but no trouble. All went quiet 10pmish and had good night sleep.

  • 1/5

Way too noisy with boy racers. Not recommended. Where is the Police allowing this?

  • 1/5

to much money for nothing, yes for mad racing people...I will never come again.

  • 2/5

Wonderful location looking straight across beach area. Pity it is ruined by the road immediately in front of parking area being used as a race track by boys racers with loud / nos exhausts banging out music from around 7 pm until well past midnight. On this basis I cannot recommend this location.

  • 5/5

Well done Scotland. A fab stop over . Yes the local young men did scoot around in their cars , not fast or annoying , all in bed and gone by 9pm . Beautiful views and walks . A perfect night for £10 fee.

  • 2/5

Not a place to stay if noisy cars & loud music bother you. Toilet tip out waste facility in N.E. corner of carpark next to recycle bins. Unmarked blue tank in ground. BE WARNED - only access this site from the north end entrance (Esplanade Rd). The other entrance has huge speed bumps that could ground a low motorhome.

  • 4/5

  • 2/5

It’s a long narrow carpark for over 400 cars. At The NORTH END there are parking bays for MoHo’s. It’s FREE during the day but £10 for overnight stays. There is a waste tank in the Northern corner but NO water tap as previously stated. There are huge 6-8” speed bumps all along the carpark but you won’t have to traverse these if you enter via the north entrance.

  • 1/5

Boy racers . aviod ❗️had a terrible nights sleep , boy racers from 5 pm till 4 am up and down all night wizzing in and out of all the motor homes . Lovely beach but definitely not a recommended stop

  • 1/5

Speed bumps from hell! We grounded our van on everyone. We met a lovely lady who advised us that she had the worse night ever due to the boy racers and advised us to move on.

  • 3/5

Well, they tried. Problem is they've diverted the road through the middle of the overnight area so the local 'cruising' club (Corsas with no exhausts) drive past to get to their meet further down the beach. They're not aggressive (unlike similar situations in England) but still make sleep difficult before 11pm (and ditto bin waggons after 8am) Other than that, not a bad location, Amazing beach.

  • 2/5

  • 5/5

Stayed for 1 night, lovely views! Short walk to the centre with lots of bars and restaurants. Very quiet, I would highly recommend.

  • 2/5

Avoid if you want a quiet spot. Racers/ car meet up until after midnight on a Wednesday evening, playing loud music and driving ridiculously fast through the car park, my partner was nearly hit by a driver flying into the car park as he crossed over from the beach. The view is lovely but £10 to not be able to get some much needed rest after a long journey did not seem worth it .

  • 3/5

  • 5/5

Hi Folks, see below for an update from the council “Over the course of the summer of 2023 we will be introducing a new barrier system within the Esplanade Car Park, Ayr which will be used to control access to the car park. There will also be permanent waste management facilities installed to replace the temporary hired equipment.”

  • 1/5

An extraordinary view over the beach to Arran and Northern Ireland on a clear day, perfect sunset views, however the car park is shared tonight by about 150 boy racers racing between the speed bumps, play loud music and blow their horns.5

  • 5/5

Terrible place Boy Racers treating the car park as a race track till really late . Dangerous driving right through the motorhome parking . avoid the place . you can park on some of the side streets like we did. police not doing anything

  • 2/5

Spent worst night of our camping experience here at the weekend. This could be a great spot for motorhomes/campervans.Great that Ayr council have gave this area. But they really need to make a stand with boy /girl racers just constantly going round and round vans.It is only a matter of time till an accident occurs. At the weekend it went on till 3am.Such a shame as it could be a great stopover.

  • 5/5

Just had a wee day trip to Ayr Beach, the space, allotted for motorhomes is excellent, only down side all that space for one van but not allowed to roll out your canopy (it’s all to do with fire restriction) £10 per night to stay over max 3nights. there’s no facilities, although a short walk down the road are the public toilets 30p it takes card the motorhome bays are right next to beach brill

  • 3/5

Last minute decision to stay and campsites were full so thought we'd give this a try. Arrived at about 10pm and there were still a couple of spaces. A few folk driving up and down the prom but things soon calmed down. Quiet night's sleep with the bonus of a swim for my wife pretty much straight out of bed.

  • 3/5

great view spaces are very good, plenty bins but no services, I.e. no fresh water or waste disposal areas, boy racers waste the enjoyment of the view, council and police need to do more, there is going to be a serious accident before the police and local council do anything

  • 3/5

  • 3/5

Great spot next to the beech and decent size pitches. The boy racers spoil it a bit though, think the council should invest in more speed bumps. Recommend Ayr India takeaway just down the road.

  • 5/5

We parked here for the day to explore Ayr. It was perfect. No services. Toilets nearby and 20 minute walk into the centre.

  • 5/5

We had a really calm night here. Payed over an application on the phone. Walked into town abd had dinner in a pub. Beautiful spot to wake up right next to the sea.

  • 5/5

Spent one night here (29 October) & think it’s a great initiative by the council. Free to use as out of season, but would happily pay if in season. Basic CDP facility, but no tap for rinsing out. As an aside, we highly recommend The Fox & Willow for a meal (10 minute walk), it was fantastic

  • 4/5

  • 3/5

A pretty beach location, unfortunately the car park is not very private or quiet. Lots of traffic and people speeding around the car park until late at night, even during the week.

  • 3/5

  • 4/5

Right on the beach. Council run site for 12 motorhomes and there were around 6 spaces occupied. Around £10 per night. A short walk into Ayr. Chemical waste disposal nearby. A few boy racers at night but they left by around 10:30 and caused us no problem. Visit the Fox and Willow for fabulous cocktails nearby.

  • 5/5

Direkt am Strand, nachts recht bald sehr ruhig. Toller Ausblick. Für 10£ völlig ok.

  • 3/5

We parked for the first time here and what a great view! £10 pay by phone and all spaces filled by 8pm. Some boy racers but not all night or disruptive after 11. In fact very peaceful after reading reviews that made us a bit worried. Was great to see the sea & beach from bed! Walked along prom into town for tea. Be warned there are several VERY unforgiving high speed humps all along to get here.

  • 1/5

Totally unsuitable to park for night. Checked tonight and boy racer’s literally racing around the car park as has been reported by others . No police to be seen. No motorhome parking signs all along sea front so motorhomes are forced to use this area local council should be ashamed. Does NOT deserve even 1 star

  • 1/5

Hi, was there in may, didn't sleep for cars flying around most of the night, and banging on side of motorhome, did call the police, they said it's a hot spot for this. Emailed the council which offered free parking on a different site, thanks for this. But want use again. spoilt the weekend there.

  • 2/5

It's £10 per night. Tried to update description but won't let me. It's ok, but there were boy racers until about 1am. Toilets lovely and clean, open 9.30am-9pm 30p a go. Other campers here makes it feel safe to leave van and nip into town if you wish (we wanted to watch the football) Defo not the nicest spot on West Coast but ok, safe and flat. Not worth a tenner in my opinion

  • 3/5

No loo emptying until end April.

  • 3/5

Very large spaces. stayed on a Friday night and there were lots of youngsters in motors but it is on a thouroufair, quieted down after about 10.30. didn't really bother us massively. great sea views with immediate access to the beach, great for the dog.

  • 3/5

  • 1/5

OMG! wee boys/girls need to go and get a life or an airstrip!! round and round they go! toot toot, music blaring! dump valves galore & intake squeals! do not go if you want to sleep... yes its free out of season but will definitely not be back in season or out of season !

  • 3/5

Enjoyed our night but the boy racers are numerous, loud and annoying!

  • 3/5

Stopped here 30/10/21 . Ideal stopover .No Waste disposal as it is only available between April and Sept . Lads in their cars driving around until about 22.30hrs but didn’t disturb us ( the rain did that) . Toilets and cafe at bottom end of car park .

  • 5/5

Parked here. no problems whatsoever last night. Saw a few cars with young people pass us a few times but no bother whatsoever. I was more worried about parking large tag axel. All fitted in. All free but no CPD now. You need to approach from the North end and you will miss the big speed humps that do exist to the south. So ideal for a night or two.

  • 1/5

Impassable speed humps. Chemical toilet disposal fenced off and no evidence of any means to empty. Absolutely rubbish. Did not stay cannot recommend. Thank you to Ayr council in principle but this needs to be thought through a whole lot better!

  • 2/5

Lovely view but we didn’t stay. There is an area cordoned off with Heras fencing and a sign saying Chemical Waste with no facilities in sight and no water tap to be found. Plus we couldn’t get our van anywhere near due to a series of very vicious speed ramps. We would have grounded out. Maybe approaching from the North it may be better but we gave up and drove on.

  • 3/5

Boy racer comment pretty accurate. but slept sound after 10 when they all took daddies car home. rang the council to confirm if we could overnight because it was after September.the signage is a bit vague. They did ring me back the day after when we were leaving!.just to confirm there was no parking charge. overall a good stop right on the beach. dog friendly chippy near the law courts.

  • 1/5

Yes it’s a great place but the boy racers are running riot Even on a wet Tuesday night. The council and police know so if they cba avoid. Feral scum need stingering. Go spend your money sometime appreciated.

  • 4/5

Nice big spaces for campervans, with a lovely view of the sea! If you can deal with a bit of car noise in the evening, it's a fine spot. Really well run by the council with plenty of recycling bins and waste disposal. Would stay again, worth the £5.

  • 3/5

Would have given it more stars but the local boy racers spoil it on Friday night, luckily it was raining so it was quite after 10.30.

  • 4/5

All quiet when we visited. Spoke to wardens who said good feedback so far. Maybe those who have had bad experiences could let council know as could be a great asset to town and motorhome community.

  • 2/5

Stayed 13/09 overnight. Absolutely horrendously noisy until midnight. cars taking off from the road bumps and doing wheelies, also horns blaring. Such a shame that police make no effort to stop this nonsense. There is also a water tank but this is meant for cleaning cassettes but noticed other motorhome owner tanking up with drinking water using the same hose. Where do these people come from???

  • 2/5

AVOID - Never felt so scared in all of my life. Paid £5.35 for 24 motorhome parking to be intimidated by boy/girl racers using the car park as a race track in between our motorhomes until 1am. Horns beeping, loud music playing, revving up and speeding up and down the esplanade. Well done to the Council for organising it but the night time behaviour needs to be stooped by the police.

  • 3/5

Great views, friendly people but still noisy cars at night beeping horns.

  • 1/5

Great initiative by the council with nice views and waste disposal and fresh water all for £5 totally spoilt by boy/girl racers who kept driving round in a loop with stereos blaring, tooting horns and shouting and screaming getting louder and louder as the night went on until about 12am had to make ear plugs up out of loo roll. The police need to get involved to sort this out . AVOID

  • 4/5

The views are stunning. It was also a pleasant night sleep. There were some loud car noise but it didn’t really bother us, and it stopped around 22.30. Would stop here again.

  • 4/5

Really nice place, beautiful views and easy to park. £5.15 for the night via ringgo app so easy to pay- and the following day is free to park until 6pm. As others have said - there were a few car enthusiasts in the car park so a bit of shouting / exhausts but nothing too bad. The toilets are quite far away down the other end of the beach and they are open 9am-9pm. Nice location and nice pub nearby

  • 1/5

Has potential to be a great spot but was plagued by racers all night, reviving engines, screaming and shouting and loud music. We paid the £5 but after an hour of being there we cut our losses and moved further up the road.

  • 3/5

Really great spot on the beach with amazing views of the unspoilt and quiet beach. unfortunately echoing what other reviewers have said they have a real issue with boy/girl racers, sped by so fast a stone flew up and hit the van and chipped the window (luckily we've got an old banger but something to bear in mind for nicer vans!)

  • 5/5

Seafront £5 per night with waste disposal & water refill. Be aware of speed bumps as our MH “hit” the bumps every time we went through and there’s one MH broke it’s grey water pipe due to the bumps. Btw there’s no water pipe connection so a bucket is needed to refill the water. And we noticed that the water was bit yellowish so we didn’t refill it for drinking water. The tank shows “water only”.

  • 1/5

Great spot with lovely views, unfortunately spoilt by boy racers reving cars beeping horns and shouting from car windows. could be a great spot if the council did something to counteract this. shame really.

  • 1/5

Brilliant views and great pricing but the boy/girl racers are shocking. Revving of the engines, shrieking out the window and music blasting. Not the quiet sea front experience I expected. Will not be returning. Council needs to sort this if this is going to be a long term plan.

  • 2/5

Great potential however if the council did something about the boy racers it would be a fantastic spot to stay

  • 1/5

Lovely views but a “rat run” for boy racers, circling the area, revving their engines, hooting, loud music and speeding. No beach patrol to notify. We were forced to leave as the noise was intolerable. Wasted £5.15. It states £5 to stay but there is an undisclosed admin fee.

  • 4/5

Lovely spot for £5 from 6pm to 9am, Free in the day time. Gorgeous sunset. Can be a bit noisy in the evening because of the racer boys. The tanks in the corner are excellent, well done to the council for providing them instead of not allowing motorhomes to stay overnight. Just needed drinking water as well.

  • 4/5

Good spot right on beach, 5 pound for the night enter by North entrance as large road humps on south entrance making the south entrance not sutable for motor homes as will ground out. The spaces are large with a slight down hill slop toward beach...5 pound Overnight is from 6pm till 9am with no return in 24 hours

  • 4/5

It is great that rather than banning motorhomes they're embracing them in this way. Yes there are boy racers here in the evenings so bring a pair of earplugs if you're an early/light sleeper. The tanks in the corner are excellent, well done to the council for providing them. However I would ward people off from using the water as a potable water source as it's so close to the black water.

  • 4/5

Right on the front 11 moterhomes tonight. sat 26thjune. easy to pay by phone. down side the boy/girl racers and motorbikes. went on till about 1.30am the police did come and go. so if you think this will bother you dont go. the council emptied the bins about 6.30am. I think this is a great thing to council are doing for £5 a night.

  • 4/5

Lovey place, personally felt it was worth the £5 for a safe park up and right next to the beach. We stayed on a Saturday night June 2021 and noticed there was a waste disposal tank set up in corner for campers to use. As noted in other comments there was a "car meet" but we enjoyed seeing the pimped up cars, police regular patrolled the car park and everyone seemed to dissappear by 11ish.

  • 5/5

Stpped 10th June for the night . lots of history to see in the town . Kids driving in and out of the carpark are only a problem if you let them be , we are parking in their carpark, let them have their fun . we where all young once. On the morning of the 12th , two , 1000 litre waste tank were installed and a fresh water bowser. Not operational at the minute but won't be long .

  • 5/5

Its a boy recers race track...bad during the week, stopped there 2nd June..didnt quieten down till after midnight....I imagine it would be much worse at the weekend. Police were about, done nothing. Keep your £5 25p. and park in one of the quiet side streets. Honestly, it was a terrible night. Even paying the fee was a nightmare..automated service which kept noting the wrong reg no. Never again.

  • 1/5

Great initiative by South Ayrshire council spoilt by putting the facility where the local youth enjoy racing their cars with ear shattering exhausts. Bikers similarly. I do not believe that someone in the planning process did not know the problem existed. As these boy racers appear endemic in Ayr - a wonderful town, so good I stayed a week (not on this Aire though).

  • 1/5

Terrible noise from driversplease ring 101 to complain to both the council and local police

  • 2/5

Nice place shame about the kids in cars constantly driving threw. If you are going to stay then come in the right way (without speed ramps... north entrance) as these will easily damage lower vans.

  • 1/5

Good idea Ayrshire council has stayed 28/05/21 but boy racers all nite roaring past tooting horn the Motorhome square should be blocked off barrier system I won’t be staying again

  • 1/5

Teenagers parking cars in motorhome bays, revving engines and shouting until midnight last night. Paid £5 for the pleasure of it. Couldn't move our van as we had to stay in the designated area for motorhomes. Toilets 30p, you need change. Definitely wouldn't stay again.
