Great spot for a stopoff from the motorway. Wouldn't aim here to stay for any reason other than passing through. No complaints of noise or smell for me!
Lay-by était assis légèrement en retrait de la route. Nous sommes arrivés vers 21 heures et il n'y avait qu'un seul autre van. Espace facile pour 3-4 camping-cars garés judicieusement. Belle vue sur la vallée.
Lay-by sat slightly back from the road. Arrived about 9pm and there was only one other van there. Easily space for 3-4 motorhomes parked sensibly. Lovely view across the valley.
Lay-by saß etwas abseits der Straße. Kam gegen 21 Uhr an und es war nur ein anderer Van da. Leicht Platz für 3-4 sinnvoll geparkte Wohnmobile. Schöne Aussicht über das Tal.

Nice views, very quiet night. Lay-by smells a bit, possibly due to nearby sewage farm. Lots of litter - shame no litter bin.

Lay-by off the main road, very little traffic but we didn't arrive til 00:15. There is a rail line quite close but doesn't disturb you. Safe and quiet, slightly sloping but great stopover.
marknlynn10/09/2023Pretty good spot - if heading south on M6 have to go through Shap village (opportunity to scope the other two sites as you go past). One other MoHo and a truck. No road noise. Good TV reception. Great views!
wandering10/06/2023We spent a quiet night here. There were no others staying and only occasional vehicle passing. There was enough litter to fill a shopping bag, sadly. It was mostly takeaway food wrappers and drinks containers but also some wipes. There are toilets in the car park in the centre of the village.

Quiet enough for a stop over. Some litter but not too bad. Only noise apart from the odd car passing is the high speed trains in the valley. May use again, only 3 stars due to the road and train noise.

Meh it's okay, a bit gross. Good things about it are the view and it's quiet through the night.

I have been using this as a stopover for many years and this is the first time I've seen rubbish. I was one of 4 this time. There were bottles, tins, and even the boxes they came in. I cleared a bin bag full. Please help clear up this very useful stopover (I note that it's only been on park4night since June this year; we need to keep it tidy if we want to keep using it)

A bit of a busy road, not the cleanest and no where to walk, could have picked somewhere else but we stayed because we were on a long road trip and couldn’t be bothered to move

Nice spot for sleeping. there was a late farm traffic but apart from the noise no problem. No bins,so take your rubbish with you to keep the place clean.
