This car park is the starting point for a nice hike to Durdle Door along the steep coast (about 10km round trip). We had only parked here for the hike but that should be ok also over night. Something behind the parking is a bit quieter. The view is simply great. (Overnight camping and parking are strictly prohibited in this car park)

No overnight parking! Please stop using for overnighting, otherwise campers could get barred from using this wonderful car park.

Didn't spot the "no overnight" sign til the morning. Very quiet apart with a fantastic view across to Portland, great sunset. Buffeted by constant strong wind. I like getting away with wild camping, no harm done, leave no trace.

Lovely views over Portland, really quiet perhaps a tad windy as so high up.

Made this our "day base" for a long weekend, arriving for breakfast & heading off after sunset to our campsite up the road. This place has 360° views, lots of space, breeze, peace, and it's free to NT members. Far away from the crazy school holiday crowds :) Walked down to Ringstead beach one day, cycled over to Lulworth/Durdle across track & field the next.

National Trust carpark. Fine for the day or a trip to the beach. Says no camping or overnight stays, so do so at your own risk

It seemed last year that NT had chilled out about respectful overnighting. Had many a lovely night in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall NT carparks - several having honesty boxes and local amenities to patronize. Encountered friendly NT staff that didn’t bat an eyelid. I was going to join NT this year with a family membership. Their attitude this year though has put me right off.

Happily fell asleep the around midnight lots of boy racers arrived and proceeded to race each other around the our van and the car park. Not pleasant kinda terrifying in the dark. Would avoid as a night camp up However was nice in the morning. Might be okay in the summer when more vans have taken up the space?

Great views! amazing drop away hillside durdle door style. bit windy pops while we were there...the van was rocking regardless. woke up to sheep but no national trust people taking reg plates but we were outta there! early doors. few people up there in campers...super quiet and no bother from anyone.

Overnight camping and parking are strictly prohibited in this car park by National Trust Byelaws. Please help us look after these special sites by following on site signage and not camping/ overnight parking here. Kind regards National Trust North & West Dorset team.

Cracking spacious location stunning views of Portland and Weymouth Bay. A gathering of cars did arrive late evening, didn't cause any trouble, left their rubbish and went. Fantastic quiet night's sleep apart from a few sheep in the background. Smugglers Inn pub 2.2 miles walk down the valley and along the seafront.

  • 4/5

Great views out to Portland and a nice pebble beach 10 mins walk down the hill. plenty of other Van's and no issues staying over night.

  • 3/5

National trust employers currently taking campervan numberplates at about 8.30 am and asking not to come back. No fine given.

Spent the night here, absolutely beautiful location with Panoramic views of the ocean. Can get a bit windy because it’s so exposed but worth it for the views. No amenities but it’s free. Sign says not to camp but there were lots of campers. The space is really big so can fit a lot of campers without being in each other’s space

Spent two nights here undisturbed. Fantastic views across the bay and harbour. Can get a bit windy up here so watch your pop top if you have one.

  • 5/5

Really nice and quiet, had a couple of locals turn up and eat takeaways. 3 other campers and a tent were there overnight. Really nice views.

  • 5/5

NO OVERNIGHT PARKING.

  • 5/5

No amenities and a bit windy but worth it for the breathtaking views out towards the harbour. We ignored the no overnight parking sign as per other reviews and had no trouble.

Stayed here a number of times overnight. Ignore the no overnight sign, no one comes around, very quiet but can be windy. Great views across to Weymouth, Portland, Kimmeridge bay and Tynham village which is well worth a visit.

  • 4/5

Very nice spot, though very muddy after rain. No overnight parking allowed. Many dog walkers in the morning and the sheep come to greet you.

  • 4/5

Total ruhiger Platz. Am 30.08.17 hier übernachtet. Noch 2 weitere Mobile vor Ort. Keine Probleme. Keine Infrastruktur! Tolle Aussicht. Klasse Wandermöglichkeit. Freilaufende Schafe

    No overnight parking!

  • 4/5
