Firstly you can park here between end of Oct and Easter Friday each year and it's completely free. Be aware there are boy racers here every night, so I would suggest moving on before they arrive each evening at 9pm!

A minute walk from the shore of Lake Windermere. Parking "pay and display" during the day. Large park next door ideal for dogs. In the car park that leaves in this guide at the end of the street, you can not stay longer, you have to enter the campsite. Forbidden to sleep here.

Excellent endroit (gratuit) bien situé pour profiter des rues animées et des vues magnifiques sur le lac. Je conseille d'aller boire un verre au Garden bar. A l'étage vous pourrez profiter d'une vue superbe sur les allées et venues des personnes dans la rue et des Bateaux sur le lac.

Life starts at 0630 here. Dog walkers, street cleaning, joggers, local traffic etc all make sure your awake nice and early.
DaveSP22/04/2023Always a great stopover. Arrive from 5pm and leave by 9am each day in the summer and stay all weekend if desired in winter. Local bars and restaurants. Short walk into Bowness for shopping. Flat and level. Some boy racers sometimes in the evening but goes quiet overnight.
JustTravels27/03/2023Great spot and really quiet and flat. Some nearby and grass / park for my dog to wee. Some cars drove past at night; only four of us (campervans) on a Sunday night. Felt very safe travelling alone. Good reception. Dog walkers and joggers going past but all very calm and peaceful. Close to the town and Lake - great first stop for visiting the Lakes! Will come during the off season again sometime!

Sat and ate takeaway here. Flat and perfect location to the town. Didn’t stay as dog barks but brilliant if no dog. Especially during the winter months. Nearest toilet is the car park down the road. 50p.

Perfect spot during winter months. Good wifi, toilets nearby and a campsite down the road if you run low on water/electricity. Fairly level and quiet in the night. Super close to the town and park for a dog to run around. Nice hike at the top of the town too (Brant fell).

Stayed here 20/01/23. What a lovely town perfect spot. It ended up been that good I ended up staying for a week and traveled round locally and went on a few hikes. Lots of lovely coffee shops near by, pubs and restaurants. I would highly recommend.

Parked here on the Wednesday 7th December 2022, Been on Glebe road a couple of times before, mainly earlier on in the year before Windermere’s finest haven’t come out of hibernation, So avoided the Car horns being pipped, C’est la Vie

fantastic free spot from October 31st, plenty of parking for motorhome, park direct facings for dogs. 3 min walk to centre. would definitely come back.

Easy access to many shops and pleasant footpaths. A bit noisy on a Friday night in mid November with pedestrians going to and from nearby restaurants. Some fast moving traffic through the night, but not very many. Quite crowded with other overnighters, but being next to like minded people is always a good thing.

Diagonal bays on the roadside too short for our van but longer bays parallel to Street further round the one way street were perfect. Best one was under tree at the start of the parallel bays that could overhang kerbed area and still be within bay markings.

Great spot outside of tourist time. Restrictions in place from Good Friday until 31st October. Outside of this no restrictions at all. Great short walk into Bowness with lots of pubs and restaurants. Great little spot.

Free on street parking, no restrictions from November to Easter. Not a busy period so plenty of space and a couple other vans parked along the road. There is a public toilet next to Braithwaite car park 50p entry.

The Glebe has now been stopped letting motorhomes and campervans stay overnight from the 1st April 2021

Stayed here on a Sunday night. There are restrictions from Good Friday- 31st October but outside these dates no restrictions. Parked just after the pay and display car park. Very quiet spot, with hardly no traffic over night and only a short walk into Bowness. However did wake up early, as car park gets busy during the daytime. Great spot!
