Söderfors, Tierpsvägen

Greek Temple and English Park In Söderfors there is an English park that was built in the 17th century as a relief service for the needy Hedesundaborna and was called "Hedesunda Bread Cake". Following the example of the Theseus Temple in Athens, Adolf Ulric Grill began in 1795 to construct the Greek temple that still gives the park its distinctive character. The temple is completely open with two rows of doric columns on each long side. The original columns were made of wood but replaced during the 19th century by columns in bricks that were plastered and painted. Originally there was also a musical line and low benches in the temple. It is not known today if any architect was hired for this work. The temple was completed in 1797
