Free parking, quiet by late night, busy road by day. No phone or tv reception as hidden in deep valley. Great forest walks. Snake pass is suitable for older vehicles if heading west from the east from Ladybower Dam. Would not recommend coming from Glossop/Manchester direction heading east as the initial incline is steep and long. Smaller, modern vans will be ok though. There is nothing around or nearby in terms of services, this is off the beaten track. But the Forrest walks are lovely.

stayed on a weekday in March so off season. I was the only van there but there were cars coming and going all night. boy racers stopping for a drink I think. headlights coming from all directions all night. not peaceful but served a purpose. no signs saying no camping but there was one saying CCTV in operation but I assume this was to deter fly tipping.

we stayed here last night, few campers and loads of cars parked overnight. no facilities no signal but great to stay for the night. right by the woodlands entrance. Everyone really friendly ❤️ Felt very safe here xxx

This layby does make do, but as it's a major road linking Sheffield & Manchester, there are cars going along the road at night, which can get noisy. Couple of other cars were parked there, but by morning they were gone. As another reviewer mentioned, there is absolutely zero signal here.

Stayed there for one night off the back of this app to see the Snake Woodland. It’s like a large layby. A lot of flytipping to one side and dirty toilet paper behind the rock wall. Lovely walk through the woods. Sadly more flytipping at the start of the woodland walk. Made me very angry. Otherwise a gorgeous place. Nighttime there was another van. No trouble. Road busy till very late and a race track for motorcyclist

Really good walks near by, but right on a main road (Snake Pass), so the road noise is a bit disturbing. No other campers when we were here, although some other cars were left in the lay-by over night.

Pretty ok place but some traffic during night. No facilities. No phone signal.
