Very large open reasonably flat car park with very impressive pot hole which can be managed, the view is great

  • 4/5

Great spot good phone signal, peaceful

  • 4/5

Great rest area with amazing views. Careful of the enormous potholes.

  • 4/5

une nuit très calme, réveillé par les moutons c'est plutôt sympa

  • 5/5

Very safe, lovely views. Plenty other cars / campers around.

  • 5/5

Stayed here this weekend, large car park with great views across! Lots of free roaming sheep so need to keep dogs under control!! Set back of the road so not too much noise, there was about 6 campers/motor homes there. The middle of the carpark has a lot of potholes so better to park round the edge

Fantastic park-up. Came here mid June and we were the only vehicle to stay overnight. Amazing views over to the old man of Coniston. Big, flat, gravel park-up, very quiet.

  • 5/5

Great park up. Reasonably flat to park for a quiet night. Friendly sheep. Yes there are potholes but easy to drive across and they will keep the boy racers away. Could be exposed parking if the wind picked up. In the morning we had 2 fighter jet’s flying low down the valley. Epic.

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot. We stayed on the Friday of Easter Bank Holiday. Peaceful, great for walking, the Sedgwick Geo Trail passes close by. Stunning scenery. 3 other vans parked overnight. It will be very exposed if it’s windy.

  • 5/5

Got the absolute most perfect flat spot with views over the beautiful countryside and even though it was raining it didn’t spoil the views. We were set for a great night. However, be warned… the wind soon got up to gale force and with the carpark being wide open to the elements, us, plus three other motorhomes had no choice but to move to lower or more secluded ground.

  • 4/5

Fantastic views with lots of space. Lots of puddles in wet weather!

  • 4/5

Schitterend plekje midden in natuurgebied.

  • 5/5

Nice place to stop over, but be aware of the large potholes. Great views

  • 4/5

bit open but views are fabulous because of that...careful picking your way over the surface as has lots of puddles good flat spots at edges...

  • 5/5

Fantastic spot with beautiful views. Extra special as the fells were covered in snow. Late afternoon and currently only ones here.

  • 5/5

Stayed here a few times over night.Busy through the day but quiet in the evening. Great views & I even got a few visits from the ponies! Felt sorry for said ponies so kept my door open so they could still look in and ended up with a car full of flies!Haha, great location and perfect for less confident campers as there’s full signal and 4g (o2) and always seems to be another camper or 2 over night

  • 5/5

Large carpark, watch got potholes..Busy during the day, very quiet at night...stunning sunset...recommend if you can get a spot...lol no amenitys.

  • 5/5

Great view, lots of space, lots of pot holes. if you're lucky you might be greeted by a pony or two.

  • 4/5

Amazing views. Lots of spaces. Far enough away from the main road that it doesn’t bother you, but the road is not too busy anyway. Good 4G signal. No bins. Take care if your van does not have good ground clearance.

  • 5/5

Incredible place! Beautiful views and perfect for stargazing.

  • 5/5

    Super place, pure countryside 5/5

  • 5/5

Wow wow wow. If this isn’t what free camping in nature is all about I don’t know what is. Don’t miss the half hour walk. Head down the small road and take footpath along the river and down to the river, you won’t regret it

  • 5/5

Absolute gem! Friendly ponies, sheep and walkers. We just stopped for lunch but will definitely overnight here in future. Beautiful views and nice bit of info on the local geology. Watch out for the potholes!

  • 4/5

Great views, very quiet but horrendous potholes which need very careful negotiation. 7 or 8 other vans on the night we stayed but we felt as though we were alone!

  • 5/5

Amazing place. room for 20 Vans. amazing views hill views everywhere. sheep loose around fields and parking spot. absolutely lovely place.

  • 5/5

Beautiful views in all directions, plenty of space for camper vans, there were 5 parked last night with us. Road was very quiet overnight, and very clean public toilets available in town centre (2miles away)

  • 5/5

Quiet lots of room amazing views what more do you need for free.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for 1 night, was lovely weather so got the chairs out and sunbathed. Lots of bikers, vans and cars pass by and park for half hour or so to take in the views. Few vans park overnight, would recommend

  • 5/5

    Fantastic views. Quiet overnight stop.

  • 5/5

Great spot. No facilities, but nothing to prevent overnight stay if you’re self sufficient. We shared large car park with 5 other vans but hardly knew they were there. Exposed so expect wind & overnight chill. Fabulous walking nearby.

  • 5/5

Large open tranquil spot out in the wilderness. some passers by during the evening taking in the scenery very quiet at night. very open to the elements. good phone signal and 4g(ee)

  • 4/5
