First trip in our van this year and its here! Great views and walks . no bother from any one. we only stay one night, move on and leave no trace

  • 5/5

What a lovely place to stay, got recommended the fish and chip shop in Stoney Middleton and worth a visit too. The Dales at their best in a panoramic view.

  • 5/5

Warning: for larger vans it is easier to come down the hill than go up it. It is a nightmare coming up from Longstone. Try to navigate from A623 so you are coming down. On way up if you meet a van - good luck! It’s single track with about 2 passing places. There are at least 6 places I counted along this small section of road to pull in. At least 7 vans spread out along these. Not level at all! Even blocks won’t level you out. So quiet. Vodafone and EE excellent signal although I found EE to be throttled at times. Although of the 6 places I counted to park there are two larger spots I would say past 6.36 metres and you are in the lap of the gods.

stayed here Saturday 29 July 2023. Great place to park. we did have to slightly level wheel with plastic ramp. Few other campervans around. fantastic views.

  • 5/5

We stayed here last night..Nice and quiet and only the odd car passing, There were about 5 campervans/ Motorhome parked up at the 3 different parking area's , Great views

  • 5/5

This is such a beautiful spot, and have been a few times, one word for it BLISS. It's so peaceful.. you can hear the local sheep in the morning.. beautiful eagles gliding over. There was no boy racers on any of our visits, lucky I guess. 10/10

  • 5/5

Very nice spot. Great view to the south. A bit sloping. Road to south west closed 15-26th May 2023. Quiet at night and roaming sheep.

  • 5/5

Spent the night at a spot further up still. Great views and very peaceful.

  • 4/5

absolutely love this place managed to get parked up mad tea and played games in motorhome then went to sleep but was woken up buy 2 or thre bad boy races in cars n they were tramming sure the over vans heard went on till about 3am in the morning different I can tell thi still be back again . spoke to a local and they are known for odd night of racing around

  • 5/5

What great views to wake upto. Yes there are 3 bays along the road but becareful, some of them are passing bays. so I stopped at the top bay, it's bigger. one boy racer was doing laps past us at night for a hour at 2am but nothing else

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night, was so peaceful no traffic going passed. Lovely views when the fog cleared.

  • 5/5

Great, elevated spot with views over the valley below, with the villages' twinkling lights after sun down. There was a small convoy of boy racers around 9pm but peaceful after that. There are a number of spots to park, I reckon easily enough space for 10 vans. No spots are completely level but it's ok.

  • 5/5

Wow! So beautiful. We were very happy here. The road is steep but its worth it!

  • 5/5

Amazing views, pretty level ground and very quiet. Few other vans turned up at about 10 but made no noise. Great spot.

  • 4/5

Lay-bys suitable for many sizes vehicles, not flat but fab views perfect signal on EE no facilities

  • 4/5

Been coming here for the last 2 years. Lovely views, quiet and signal is decent. Nice quick escape from the norms of life.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Superbe vue, nuit calme. On recommande !

  • 5/5

Beautiful, quiet hilltop road. Stayed on a Tuesday and had the hill to ourselves. Stayed the following Saturday = 14 vans and 4 cars. But still found space. Stunning wide, open hilltop views to wake up to. Not level. Can get windy. Nearest pub 20mins walk downhill (30mins back up).

  • 5/5

Great park up, quite, gorgeous views a regular one for myself.

  • 5/5

Great park up with amazing views. A few vans here at the same time as us, all very friendly. Such a clean place so please keep it that way and take all rubbish home.

  • 5/5

Spent many a night here, very quiet with minimal traffic and stunning views.

  • 5/5

Large gravel laybys, enough space for lwb. Beautiful views over Peak District. Peaceful night.

  • 4/5

A regular spot for me, spent NYE at this spot also. Amazing views, only down side is you can be on a slight slope.

  • 4/5

Great view, easy access. Only one star off because of the slope.

  • 5/5

when I got here there were a tonnes of cigarette butts and BBQ remnants. it's a wonderful spot so please keep it that way and leave no trace!!

  • 5/5

beautiful views! saw hot air balloons in the distance. peaceful.

  • 5/5

Stayed here (24/4) on a Sunday night. Very quiet. Very little traffic. Stunning views. Bit of a slope, but not too bad to worry about.

  • 5/5

Stayed two nights here (driving away during the day). Pretty quite. Occasional car and cyclists. Surprised not spoilt by clowns in naff souped up cars….. but we saw police drive past twice, so think probably patrolled. Superb views. Great sun trap in the evening. Narrow lane to get there, but our wide 7m long Motorhome managed ok.

  • 5/5

Stayed there Friday night. The views were spectacular. The sunrise was beautiful. The road very quiet. Lots of space, slightly slanted but not noticeable for a night. Had a really peaceful night. Dog friendly pub at the bottom of the hill (walking distance). Good food and friendly locals. I'd definitely stay in this spot again. Can imagine it gets busy in summer as such a good spot.

  • 5/5

Beautiful view. Very quiet lay-by away from any main roads. Was two other campervans there at the same time. Only downside is it's on a bit of a slope but no issues for one night.

  • 5/5

The small grassy pull in on the other side of the road is awesome! Views, flat, signal. Perfect

  • 5/5

My first solo night out- loads of lay-bys with space for plenty of vans. Lots of other people staying there but didn’t feel crowded. Great views. Full 4G signal. Safe. Quiet.

  • 5/5

Great night sleep, really quiet and with lots of walks. we were at a bit of an angle but that didn't bother us.

  • 5/5

Beautiful, many walks, quiet but couple of other vans spread up the road and down, full signal, definitely worth a trip, so quiet and chilled, could have stayed for weeks

  • 5/5

Great spot, quiet other than the sheep and birds. Levelling is tricky in some spots but plenty of space and the views are worth it. Lots of nice walks/cycle routes from here too.

  • 5/5

What a find! Peaceful, beautiful view. Take your rubbish home, keep it clean :-)

  • 5/5

This is a little gem of an overnight stay. Surrounded by nature, not too far from Bakewell. Perfect for a remote stay. Views pack a punch. Get here early so you can pitch up as only space for about 5 vans.

  • 4/5

Stunning views, very quiet at night. Several other vans parked up but spaced out so not crowded at all. Narrow roads from both sides but relatively easy done in a LWB van or motorhome. Only 4 out of 5 as it's on a fair gradient so levelling out is a bit difficult but I would stay here again!

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot! A few other campers, amazing views. There are quite a few lay-bys along the road so have a little explore. Also a couple of pubs in the village at the bottom of the hill!

  • 5/5

Amazing views and some gorgeous highland cattle nearby!

  • 5/5

First day out in our conversation campervan for a day trip. went for a long walk then back for dinner then back out for another walk. was very few cars. Great views. Will be definitely be staying overnight when we can

  • 5/5

Came across this place while looking for another and decided to stay. The morning views over the valley listening to the cows were great. We slept in our roof top tent and didn't get bothered at all. A few other vans parked up as the evening went on. Great place to stop!

  • 4/5

Stayed here on a Saturday night. There are a series of large and small lay by’s most of which are on a slight hill. There was already other campers here when we arrived approx 6:30pm but still plenty of spaces. Views are fantastic on a clear day but weather can be worse at such a height.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet place to stop with great views

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great find and night stay. Ground is slightly un level and would recommend raps, but great night sleep and views!

  • 5/5

Awesome place to stop. Views right down to Harbrough, Monsal Head and Chatsworth. Plenty of space for everyone who wants to go. there must have been 20 vans there the same night as us but didn't feel crowded at all.

  • 5/5

We really enjoyed this spot :) There were many places to park along the lane, and a great opportunity to chat with other campervanners! The view was great, and the ground seemed pretty level to us. Recommend!

  • 5/5

    Plenty of room, great views

  • 4/5

Great spot. Plenty of room. Beautiful views. Many walkers and cyclists also use it to park in the morning as a base for their activity.

  • 4/5

Amazing view and a quiet road. Traffic was infrequent up until about pub closing time then non existent.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot. There are 3 or so lay bys on the road up each with enough space for a couple vans. No trouble and perfect location for venturing out into the peaks. :)

Gorgeous spot, a little busy but there’s plenty of room, especially further up the hill

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Amazing views and lots of footpath options. A very quiet road (mainly single track access - wouldn't fancy it in a big Motorhome)

  • 5/5

Went on a warm day in late may, plenty of space, only some other people

  • 5/5

Lovely space, excellent views and very quiet!

  • 5/5

Great park up. Very peaceful nights sleep. Wonderful views over the valley. Not suitable for larger vans. No facilities. No refuse point.

  • 4/5
