All parking at this harbour is on Private land but welcome visitors from all over.

If you wish to stay overnight in your motor home you are required to pay £7 to the Dunbeath Preservation Trust donation boxes which clearly show our charity number SC003175 one is located beside the toilets and the other at the beach.

We aren't a rich Trust like some locals like to say we are. We are actually a small local Charity.

This money is used for maintaining the harbour area that we own including our buildings and continuing to maintain and improve this area.

These donations boxes were only put up in 2023.

Stayed here for one night just next to the toilets. There was one other van there at the time but room for a couple more probably. There was a little bit of a slope but not a problem. The toilets were very well kept - we left a donation in the honesty box by the toilets. It was pretty windy out in the morning but we didn't notice it much in the van. The view was pretty nice to wake up to.

Stayed here last night with one other van. Plenty of donation boxes here and room for vans right to the end of the lane. Children's play area at the end. The John O'Groats path goes by here. Toilets are open 24 hours. very windy place but amazing!

  • 5/5

Fairly flat with reasonable internet signal although a bit intermittent. Toilets open 24 hours. No chemical disposal. Lovely beach to walk along and quiet area. Would recommend. Donation £7 in an honesty box.

A really good stop over. Had a good night sleep as it was very peaceful. Toilets are really clean and well maintained. Good place to be if you have a dog with places to walk and a patch of grass near site for there business but please respect that and clean up after them. Please put money in the box to keep this place going.

Lovely little stop over in the village of Dunbeath. Parking is by the harbour. There are donation boxes on the fences but make sure you put it in the ones for the locals, not the Trust one, who go out their way to maintain the area in which you stay. There is very little to no traffic noise at all. All in all a lovely 1 night stop over and friendly locals who we had a good chat with.

  • 5/5

Beautiful. Toilets super clean for public loos. The view over the sea and castle where breathtaking. We were worried it would be windy but we had no problems at all we parked nearer to the wall for shelter. Only one other van joined us on such a large area to park. Please leave a donation no matter how small. Keep this amazing park up available to us. Leave no trace xx

  • 5/5

Good stopover. As described in other posts. Toilets very clean and open all night. 3 carparks all together the first was the most sheltered. 3 vans overnight when we stopped. Honestly box for donations please donate and keep the place clean.

Beautiful views and toilets open all night. Lovely crab sandwich from tasty toes shack for breakfast. Left donation in donation box to help keep park so beautiful. Thank you for the hard work keeping the space beautiful

Flat area with toilets. A pretty village on the harbour and close to the beach, also a heritage park near by. The signal is patchy when we were in our van, but apart from that a really good spot! We also got pizza from the Bay Inn which was lovely and reasonably priced.

14/05/22 - Beautiful spot quiet flat and peaceful just what was needed to recoup after a few weeks on the road. Free 24hr toilet block. The Bay Inn at the top does great pizzas! Nice strip of beach.

16/5/22 Excellent location. Large, level parking areas for vehicles of all sizes with a public toilet open 24/7. The view over the harbour and the bay, with the castle perched on the cliffs far away, is memorable. It's very quiet, peaceful and welcoming. Leave a donation to the upkeep of facilities.

  • 5/5

Nice and quiet, few cars use the first carpark to turn round - however there are a further two spots in walking distance of toilet block. Might be worth parking in one of those if you're a very light sleeper. TV has reasonable signal on DTV, 4G internet available, but only 1-2bars inside the van. Toilets open and clean, really good little spot!

  • 5/5

Love it down here. spent a total of probably 5 or 6 nights in this spot. tend to park in the first section by the toilets and even though it's just after the houses, never had a problem. residents let you be. the toilets are open 24hrs and they seem to come early to clean them so all good. we love the Bay restaurant... recommend going for a beer, coffee or a pizza done in their wood fire oven.

  • 5/5

Plenty space here. Seafood shack opened about 10:00 - 10:30am. A nice little walk up the river to a Broch. There is a donation box at the harbour, on the fence next to flowered area. The people here are so tolerant, please leave a donation. Small shop at the top of village and pub/restaurant on main road.

Perfect stop over, fantastic view and at the top of the hill a restaurant that does amazing food with excellent service, but make sure you book. Walk across the football pitch and up the hill to the pubs garden. There are 3 areas to park and a W/C is open all night. It’s of the main road and really quite. My son and I spent 2 hours just exploring the beach area!!

  • 5/5

Lovely place to stop for the night. There was one other campervan when we arrived around 18:30. A couple more were around the bend near a picnic area. Very useful to have clean toilets on site. Donation box across the road. Also made use of the public tennis court just up the road.

  • 5/5

Lovely little spot. clean toilets, open all night. bins at the harbour car park and recycling a little further along near the row of houses. The Bay at the top of the bank is lovely and friendly. Superb fish n chips / Scampi. Great selection of gins and beer. Book in advance though as they get booked up. Salmon and sea trout in the water and we did fling some lures out but no luck for us.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet harbour with toilet block. Donation box on the fence for the upkeep of the area. Heritage centre up in the village currently open Tues and Weds 10-3pm. Nice walk along the river to Dunbeath Broch. Spacious and no problem for 7m motorhome. Several spaces, plus more around the corner.

Great little spot. Reasonably flat and sheltered with good mobile phone and TV signal. Toilets clean and open all hours. Saw a couple of other vans drive up to the higher point a bit further along but we had the area to ourselves overnight and all quiet. Donation box is by the fence on grassed area. Thank you Dunbeath!

  • 5/5

Great little place with toilets open 24/7. Quite lane leading to the harbour. Space for about 6/7 campers and if you follow the track up and over the harbour there is a further car park with picnic benches etc and a little beach. Lots of bins available, locals seemed friendly enough to those who park and donation box affixed to the harbour gate. Brilliant find x

Lovely place. Few cars visit the toilet but not through the night. Peaceful.

Lovely spot, it was quite busy when we arrived just before 5pm. Definitely give The Bay up the road a visit - tasty wood-fired pizza and very kind owners. Very clean facilities and bin/recycling area nearby. Absolutely worth leaving a donation in the wee box on the way out.

Great place to stay for a night, very pretty view and toilets open all night. Lovely quiet space. Make sure to donate a couple coins on way out so that it stays that way.

Lovely quiet spot with toilets and litter facilities still working fisherman in the harbour and it's the birth place of the famous Scottish writer Niel M Gunn and where he based his book "silver darlings"

  • 5/5

A great place to overnight. Quiet sleepy fishing village. Locals are very tolerant, just make sure you make a donation in the box by the harbour fence to keep it that way.
