Lovely pub and super friendly people. We recommend the chocolate stout which is epic but the other beers made by Great Yorkshire Brewery were all excellent. The field is ‘undulating’ in places but we easily found a flat spot for our large motor home. There’s a tap and toilets on site. Plenty of great walks and a very pretty village.

With Helmsley park up definitely closed this is an excellent alternative. Friendly pub, decent food and quiet car park. Seems lots of space but we only in VW T5. Close to fantastic walking in beautiful countryside. Will use again when want quiet night away on the Moors from York.

drove through pickering looking for a decent place to stay, rang the New Inn Compton, camping field was full, but was told to pull in to carpark and park up, had lovely pint in bar, stayed in carpark overnight, few other campers in there too, nice to know that places like this exist, well done to the New Inn Compton for providing this facility

Stayed here many times. Nice site but can get busy in the old ‘quarry’ campsite as it is mixed with vehicles and tents. The toilet facilities are located there. You can stay in the pubs carpark if your in an average sized camper van. The pub is also the home of the Great Yorkshire Brewery and Cropton brewery
