stayed here one night the trains are very very load never again.

Turned up to a very dark and wet car park. Trains passing through were SO LOUD - maybe we were parked just too close to the line but we didn’t stay. Not for us I’m afraid.

Fab spot - door opened onto greenery with the canal twinkling. 3 pubs, a chippy, an immaculate and friendly tea room (Bumble Bee open 10-2 daily winter, does takeaway has immaculate toilets). Canalside walks. Free car park is between canal and a Trainline. There were about 3 trains through the night but I wore earplugs and it was no problem. Other half doesn’t wear earplugs and still no problem.

Such a good spot currently still free to use. It's the station car park next to a canal. Lovely location. A nice tea room, a chip shop, and a couple of nice pubs all nearby. We arrived at nearly midnight but still plenty of space to park. In the morning we had a walk along the tow path and then a hot chocolate from the tea room. Paddle boards and kayakers use the canal too. A gem of a spot.

I spent one afternoon & evening in willington parked at this spot. Great village but made the mistake of spending too much time in the 3 pubs. Locals were great fun but ended up at a house party where people were, shall I say, getting involved and to top it off my Missis went off with one of the locals.

I used to live in the area, so I know this village well. We spent a quiet Friday night here while traveling through. Excellent food in the Dragon pub, and a lovely English feel right by the canal and boats. A few freight trains going past during the night, but not an issue.

I’ve parked here overnight several times on different days of the week. It’s always busy but it’s free. It’s adjacent a railway & station so expect trains ‘thundering’ past. It’s next to a canal & a real ale pub/restaurant (The Dragon) Co-op store 5 minute walk. A38/A50 5 minute drive away. No height/time restrictions or parking fees yet - respect for the area should keep it that way.

Okay spot, had no trouble with locals or finding a park early in the morning. However the trains going past are extraordinarily loud. Carpark filled up mid morning and stayed full up until I left in the evening. Nice canal walk nearby and a co-op near too, but not much else here.

Great place to stop. Lots of places for food nearby and nice walk along the canal. Can be a little busy so be prepared to move as the car park gets quiet later. Very peaceful despite proximity to pub although there is some noise from trains until late.

Lovely place, with 3 pubs, canal, chippy, train station. The only bad thing, is the trains. They are so loud. It's an okay overnighter if you're desperate but I don't advise it. My van literally shook with one of the trains. The trains are very regular, even all through the night.

Great place to stay a night. Picturesque and fairly quiet apart from the trains which are fairly frequent until quite late and then the odd one through the night. Didn’t bother me though. Local pubs, canal walk and Fish and Chips nearby. I was in a 7.2mtr Motorhome and there are only a few spots for something that large available really. Great little park up though.

If you are ok with trains at times during the night, this is a great spot. Next to Trent and Mersey Canal. Lovely walking along canal. Choice of pubs. F&C close by

Great little spot for a night. Free car park, can be a little noisy with trains but they stopped during the night. Nice canal walks for the mornings too. Pubs and shops close too.

For those who have troubles finding this place: it’s Willington Picnic Space with access from Twyford Road. Location is shown correctly in Park4Night app. 19 Findern Lane is actually residential property. On Findern Lane there are few parking spots opposite number 23 (cars or small vans only as you park perpendicular to the road) and opposite number 121 (parking alongside the road, so van will fit)

Nice car park whilst travelling through, yes trains bit noisy but had been warned.shops nearby.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here 3 /11/20 with our Motorhome, is ok for a night but a bit noisy from the Trains running throughout the night. We had fish and chips from the local chip shop they were really good. The car park is free

  • 3/5

As mentioned there are nice pubs and canal walks here and it’s free. If you’re a light sleeper the trains may be a problem for you. A word of caution if parking along the left side there’s a large branch that’s been cut back but still overhangs the parking space. I now have a substantial repair to do on the roof, no ones fault except mine so just be warned. Other than that a good free stop over.

Ok for a night as safe but can be noisy as the car park is used for nearby pubs .... on the plus side, its free and there is a lovely morning walk along the canal towpath

Stayed here one night, and it would have been pretty good, good facilities nearby, excellent pubs, chippy nearby and the site is pretty much right next to the canal. So it 'would' have been good apart from the fact the around midnight the local dope crew turned up in about three cars, they (for some bizarre reason) stood in a big circle for about an hour or so and on so much weed you could smell it all over the site. It looked like something out of a zombie film. The police would do themselves a favour if they popped by at least once a night. Not staying again.

Good for one night but good pubs. Went to chippy for tea. 04/08/18
