Right by a lake with activities, amazing to wake up to a foggy lake and birds singing and waterfowl to watch. As others have mentioned; it's not a quiet spot. It's on a very busy 50mph B road and unless your truck is fully sound proofed the boy racers will keep you up all night and the commuters will wake you early. Other than that, it's a beautiful spot

Parked here at 5.30pm on Saturday night 19/07/25 beautiful views, people coming and going. Boy racers began arriving from 8pm approx 30 cars, noisy for a few hours, quietened by 10pm and the last left by 11.30pm. We’re still giving 5 stars because they were respectful and left us in peace and us them to do their thing. If you’re unbothered by noise this is a great and safe feeling location

Decent place to park up, set away from the main road slightly, good phone signal, beautiful place to catch the sunrise. After around 11pm it quietens down. Woke up to a few photographers waiting to get a snap of the sunrise. Parking here got busy during the day

Lovely view of the lake. I stop off here often. Just make sure you park as close as you can to the rail, and pop your side mirror away as it’s quite tight if a HGV needs to get past. May get the odd visit from a swan or two. Lovely walks around there too. Good phone signal on EE.

Good signal on Three/Smarty. Lay-by separated a bit from the road so you don’t get rocked about when cars pass, but there is noise. Great view!

Gorgeous view, lake is about 5 metres from your van. Lots of ducks and geese paddling. Spot can a little busy with cars but nothing to worry about. Just off a B road (50mph) so you can hear the cars but honestly it's not bad at all, very quiet through the night

Absolutely stunning view and the ducks and swans and geese are adorable to watch. The road is a bit noisy like others said but once I had my Earplugs in to go to sleep I didn't notice it. Would definitely stay again!

Stunning spot. Ok 4G signal on Vodaphone but just too loud. We arrived at 6pm and cars went zooming past 50mph every 40 seconds. Stayed for a cuppa and left to a spot 10 minutes down the road (also on P4N) Much better :)

Direkt an einer Straße - kein Wasser im See.. wir sind weitergefahren.

If you like sleeping, this maybe isn’t the best spot on the lake… The boy racers weren’t as bad as the night-tractors blasting their horn whilst driving by. That all said, gorgeous view, plenty of space and felt very safe - just a little noisy.

Absolutely beautiful spot! Completely free lay-by, no overnight rules. People stopping regularly in the evening but only 3 of us on there overnight and plenty of space to keep your distance from others. There is a general waste bin. It is next to a 50mph stretch of country road so people do speed past but the lay-by is set back so no concern there apart from noise which we were fine with. My boyfriend said there were a few beeps early in the morning from passing cars (I didn’t hear these, slept like a log). Just beautiful scenery and a lovely place to stop! Would definitely park here again if we’re in the area. The other spots around the lake are nowhere near as pretty or look like they’d feel as safe, also think this is the bigger parking area!

Wonderful view, if you can stand the cars flying by it’s a must.

The view is really worth the stay but it's really popular and very noisy as it's on a 50mph road.

We tried this spot after trying cheddar gorge but it has the same problem with boy racers. if your lucky enough to stay a night without the boy racers its a really nice spot but we found a quiet layby half a mile up the road which was perfect, we've added it to the app

Really nice scenic views. No signs prohibiting overnight stay. Next to a road which can be quite busy. It may be a meetup spot for local youths as a group rocked up at about 1am and made a load of noise for about an hour.
