Stayed for 1 night before we visited bamburgh castle. Apart from awful windy weather, it was a quiet night. Lovely being alongside the north sea.

  • 4/5

Beautiful place to park with great views of the bay. The traffic does quieten down at night, but it is a main road and traffic does come past at speed. There’s no barrier between road and lay-by so did worry about someone crashing into the back of us while we slept.

  • 5/5

Large lay-by with great views of the birds. We walked to Bamburgh castle and back on the coastal path. It was quiet overnight, no services.

  • 5/5

Great view for birdwatching. Traffic tends to calm down around midnight. Great place for a lay over.

  • 4/5

Big layby with fabulous views, a great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. Little close to road for overnight sleeping for me.

  • 4/5

Great views, nice walk along the waterfront with the dog. Traffic noise and shaking as they pass. No beeps at night, good nights sleep.

  • 4/5

A really nice scenic spot on level ground, absolutely plenty of space for multiple vehicles to park up. Only slight negatives are that you feel the rock of the wind when large trucks drive past & we also got the horned beeped at us at around 11pm & 6am but that doesn’t bother me tbh!

  • 5/5

    lovely views and parking area

  • 3/5

No toilet. Don’t be surprised by locals.

  • 5/5

No toilets. Go where you have the facilities you need.

  • 4/5

Stayed here 20th Dec 2024. Lovely location, got honked at in the middle of the night (unsurprising considering previous reviews) and traffic seemed to pass quite close to the van, shaking it a little as they passed, but gorgeous view in the morning over the estuary! Also no cover/bushes/trees for a wild wee, but public toilet nearby in Bamburgh was useful.

  • 4/5

Literally on the roadside but stunning views over the nature reserve of Budle Bay.

  • 4/5

the view is amazing, it's right on the main road so it can be busy first thing in the morning and some of the locals find it hilarious to think their horns the whole way down the road at daft o'clock at night! but other than that it was ideal for a quick stop over

  • 1/5

So where do you get your free water? Where do you dump your waste? Northumberland is not a place for free loaders. The locals don’t want you.

  • 5/5

Great spot for a nice sunset. Some passing traffic but it’s free so no complaints

  • 5/5

always space and traffic eases later, great location an fabulous views.two mins into bamburgh for fresh drinking water and toilets.some great coastal walks too, highly recommend just for ease of parking

  • 5/5

Park to stay over the night, free. amazing view. sunset and star gazing. away from light pollution.

  • 5/5

lovely place to stay and quiet at night. Was lovely waking up to the birds calling. I think this is the place to stay now. Parking in the town is on a slope and the Wyndings have no tv or phone signal and just for swb vans.

  • 5/5

parked up for two nights, road is busy in the day, quiet at night, lovely view over the bay, safe enough with plenty other vans around. no services. easy 2.5mile walk to bamburgh.

  • 4/5

Beautiful view, had a nice evening watching the sunset. Its a free spot near bamburgh castle and in bamburgh itself you can use the public toilets.

  • 4/5

This is a great little spot, space for plenty of vans alongside the water edge and park your van to have the side door open looking out into Budle Bay. Close to Bamburgh which is pretty hard to find somewhere to stay so would stay again

  • 4/5

A large layby, with spaces for maybe 20 motorhomes next to the bay. Super views over the water towards Lindisfarne, excellent birdwatching, and I could hear seals but not see them. A few cars go past, blowing their horns, etc. But the traffic stopped by 11pm and didn't start again til after 7. I had a decent night sleep

  • 4/5

Nice spot to grab a cuppa at. Very close to the road, just a layby with sea views so no amenities & obviously road traffic passing.

  • 4/5

spent one night, road was busy until later in the night sith the odd car passing by (does shake the van). Nice views of the water.

  • 5/5

Didn’t stay overnight but had a great rest stop. Lovely view and quiet road.

  • 4/5

Beautiful spot. This was a back up as other spots nearby were jam packed. Stunning to watch the birds and the tides. Stars were out in abundance- road got noisy in the morning as expected. Lovely little park up

  • 4/5

Stehen am Strassenrand aber kostenlos. Ab 20 Uhr wird es ruhiger. Spaziergang zum Sandstrand auf Coast Path möglich. Schöner Blick ins Watt oder bei Flut aufs Meer. Viele Vogelgeräusche-herrlich!

  • 4/5

Wonderful wiew, just on the sea side, birds, sunset. Very close to the road, but during the night we had good, quiet sleep.

  • 5/5

Amazing spot, even though it's very close to the road. Wonderful vuew of the bay with tide coming in and out and the amazing birdlife. The road is busy during the day, but does quieten at night. Loads of space for campers and birdwatchers

  • 3/5

Not a bad stop, Nice views and walks. Castle up the road. You are next to the road and can get busy, it does get quiter later on in the evening with just the odd car going by. We would stay again if needed.

  • 4/5

Didn't plan on stopping overnight but found it a view too good to give up, fair bit of traffic and rather exposed to the elements but it's cheap and cheerful (aka free) with lovely views, not too far from Bamburgh Castle.

  • 3/5

Great views, but road can be fairly busy. Nice walk along budle bay beach in morning, amazing on a clear night looking at the stars. Quite Exposed when windy.

  • 4/5

Fantastic views but be prepared for constant buffeting from passing vehicles. Very quiet during sleeping hours. Room for loads of campers.

  • 4/5

Stayed one night last Saturday. Definitely is close (right next to) the road, but does get quieter later on. Ideal smash and grab stopover.

  • 3/5

Stayed 1 night over the weekend 05/02/22. Lots of level space for many vans and stunning views over the bay. You couldn't get closer to the sea without being in it, but you also couldn't get closer to the road without being on it. Not much traffic, but what does pass is very close. Wish we'd stayed at the next spot along at Harpers Heugh Viewpoint, which we drove past the next morning.

  • 4/5

Stayed overnight 25 08 2021. A couple of vans but plenty of room. Very noisy with passing traffic which kept rocking the van due to excessive speed and closeness. Also exposed (it was quite windy when we were there).

  • 4/5

Nice spot. Walk along main rd to get to beach only down part.

  • 5/5

Fantastic views across the bay with level parking. at this time there are no restrictions on parking.

  • 5/5

Plenty of space, didnt have trouble parking on a saturday in June. View is amazing as the tide comes in on a night. Right next to road so a few cars going by but eases down at night, didnt have any problems.

  • 5/5

Great view and loads of space.

  • 4/5

Very good. Ok you will have traffic but after ten very little. The view is fantastic. I can see 10 campervans with the odd motorhome. If you are into paddle boards then its a must.

  • 3/5

Stayed here last night (Saturday), beautiful views over the bay but with being on the side of the road it’s very busy with passing traffic all night, however, still managed a very good nights sleep. There were about 8 other vans and probably room for 15 in total.

  • 3/5

Not great spot really, very windy and quite unpopular with the locals I think. Had cars going past and honking in the middle of the night. Lovely view over the bay though and plenty of space. Must've been 8 other vans here and room for more. Almost wide enough for 2 vans side by side

  • 4/5

Beautiful bay with a wonderful sunset (on a good day!). Quiet during the night but very busy from about 6am so if you're sensitive to traffic, this is not the place for you!
