Some welcome shade on a hot afternoon, good place for a pause and a visit to the Museum of Luz. It commemorates the old village which was flooded to make Alqueva reservoir, the largest in Western Europe. Well worth a visit. The museum building is next to the new church, but isn’t immediately visible, as it’s appropriately half buried in the landscape.
Ideal alternative whilst the local aire is closed for renovations. Water taps and toilet in the cemetery but closed at night. Part at the top is relatively flat. Great views of the lake. Town a short stroll away.
