Lovely spot to stay - so glad the scheme is being extended again to end of October 2024. Cafe closed at 15:30 and water tap turned off but disabled toilets open. Very quiet night - only us and one other van. Paid £3 for 3 hours day parking and then £7 for the night.

Stayed here last night with three others as part of the extended stay the night Winter trial scheme. Lovely cafe, nice walks and very quiet night. Fabulous scheme

Large car park for up to 30 vans / motorhomes. £7 for the night 6pm - 10am. Toilets and showers however they close at 5pm and open again at 10am, but there is a 24 hour toilet open around the side of the bike shop. Showers are £3 for 4 minutes, tokens need to be purchased at the bike shop. At the moment this car park is only on trial, hopefully it will be permanent. lovely quiet nights sleep.

A lovely quiet stop for the night. We stayed 6/7/23. Added a photo of the night parking information. It’s £7 to stay the night from 6pm to 10am following morning. You can used the toilets in the visitor centre - when it’s open. No other services. It’s a great idea. Felt that the timing of parking should cover one hour the visitor centre is open 10am -1700! Great walk and don’t miss the bird hide.

Fantastic!! Great idea. Wonderful location. Here is hoping they keep going once the trial is over. Take a moment to give them feedback

Lovely stay but we did freak out when sat nav took our 7m MH up quite a steep windy single track road. Getting out we went a different way which was much easier. Wish we took this way in. Only used fresh water tap outside visitor centre and not other facilities. Plenty of bins, quiet and clean. Pitch very good but levelling needed. Nice walks in the forest and round a small lake. Dog loved it.

£7 per night to stay here only between 1st April and 31st October, payable on app. signal on some networks isn’t available but you have 72 hours to pay. There is a single toilet open 24 hours and a cold water tap. Showers available when the bike shop opens - £3 for 4 mins. Good forest trails for walking and cycling.

  • 5/5

Kirroughtree visitor centre is only open to overnight stays with campervan and motor homes from April to the end of October. You can’t stay before that or after , the facilities will be closed , so people who are disappointed in it it’s because it’s not opened to us yet , go back in April and you will see the difference .

Didn't have a great experience here today. The water tap was out of order. The showers locked. I asked about the possibility of using the showers and the member of staff in the cafe was quite rude and had a rant at me about how they had no facilities to empty the toilet. I hadn't even mentioned the toilet only the shower. I was told they were closed and only for the cyclists anyway.

Standen hier als einzige für eine Nacht. So war es sehr ruhig und wir konnten gut schlafen. Danke für den Platz.

Very quiet spot! £8 to overnight (have to buy x2 day tickets) We arrived at about 7:30 and only 3 other campers. We went off for a walk with our dogs on the orange path and didn’t see a soul. Beautiful forest walk with river and lake. Dark Sky Park. Would recommend!

Stayed here April 2022 large car park £8 overnight toilets and showers when cafe open. Very quiet

  • 3/5

Overnight parking not allowed. It looks beautiful and could be a fun place to visit during the day, unfortunately we just wanted to sleep.

  • 2/5

Signs on the ticket machines say no overnight parking, like almost every car park in the area. Very disappointing.

  • 5/5

A beautiful and very quiet place to sleep. The car park is a bit sloped but not too bad. We were the only people here! Also, it’s a dark sky park, the stars were incredible!

  • 4/5

Sloping car park. Noise from mountain bikers but quiet by 11pm. Toilets and showers open with shop. Shower £2. Water available at a tap to fill containers. £6 overnight, payable at shop (only open 10am-5pm) or have change for ticket machine. Forestry Commission employee came around at 8.30am shouting and rattling her keys on windscreens which was mildly annoying. Good little place & Playground.

  • 4/5

Staying here tonight. Beautiful area and great drive in from Dumfries. Quiet one the mountain bike clan go home. Will visit again. £9 for day ticket and overnight.

  • 5/5

Very peaceful. Only 4 other campers, great for a one night stop over. Toilets are closed at 5pm

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet night spent here. Fantastic walks in the forest. You are asked to spend only one night but it was clear several mountain bikers stayed longer. £6 for the night was okay with me, and I will definitely return. Showers closed due to COVID

  • 4/5

Campers now buy 2x£3 all day tickets to stay 18:00 - 10:00. One night only allowed. Slightly sloping parking. Toilets open when bike shop and cafe is open from about 10:00 . The forest walking trails are lovely. MTB trails of all grades as well. Be respectful and make sure Forestry Commission keep this facility and expand elsewhere.

  • 3/5

All day parking £3, overnight parking £9. Lovely place lots to see and do for miles around, £9 overnight bit high for no facilities and my 4G didn’t work so moved on

  • 5/5
