L'Observatoire Helmos appartient à l'Observatoire national d'Athènes, sur le deuxième plus haut sommet du mont Helmos, Neraidorachi, à une altitude de 2 340 mètres, au-dessus de la station de ski de Kalavryta. Cet emplacement a été choisi car il fait partie des endroits d'Europe où la pollution lumineuse est la plus faible et le télescope est généralement au-dessus des nuages. Vue panoramique sur les montagnes du Péloponnèse, Sterea Hellas, le golfe de Corinthe et la mer Ionienne. Très bon chemin de terre.
The Helmos Observatory belongs to the National Observatory of Athens, on the second highest peak of Mount Helmos, Neraidorachi, at an altitude of 2,340 meters, above the ski resort of Kalavryta. Das Helmos-Observatorium gehört zum Nationalen Observatorium von Athen und befindet sich auf dem zweithöchsten Gipfel des Helmos, Neraidorachi, auf einer Höhe von 2.340 Metern über dem Skigebiet Kalavryta. Dieser Standort wurde gewählt, weil er zu den Orten in Europa mit der geringsten Lichtverschmutzung gehört und sich das Teleskop meist über den Wolken befindet. Panoramablick auf die Berge des Peloponnes, Sterea Hellas, den Golf von Korinth und das Ionische Meer. Sehr guter Schotterweg.

Teilweise sehr schmale ausgesetzte stellen. Steile und absolut einspurige Auffahrten. Teilweise muss bei Gegenverkehr mehrere 100 m (auch in Kurven) rückwärts gefahren werden. Hochalpines Gelände (Mitte Juni 2023) oben noch Schnee. Nachts +6 C. Observatorium ist bewohnt und rund herum Kameraüberwacht. Bitte nehmt den Müll und das WC wieder mit, sonst ist die Auffahrt bald verboten.
