Stayed overnight on Friday, very quiet with one other van. However it did get busy early Saturday morning with walkers. Great hikes in the area.

  • 5/5

late review stayed here Oct 2024 on the weekend. busy but managed to park late friday night to start hike sat morning. peaceful sleep with the river running no signal on EE

  • 5/5

Un parking, mais faite attention dans Flash a prendre new road et pas les indications du GPS qui vous fera passer sur l'ancienne route exactement étroite on etait pas loin d'etre bloqué. Le tronçon qui va au parking n'est pas trés gros non plus.

Arrived at 18:30 on a Wednesday night and the car park wasn’t busy. I believe it’s extremely busy on most days throughout the day due it being the parking for the start of the walks to The Roaches and Lud’s Church. I ended up being the only vehicle left on the car park, so it was nice and quiet with just the sound of the stream. Very dark, no street lamps etc… No phone signal, mine is Vodafone.

  • 5/5

Lovely place to park, we managed to park right in the corner by the steam, it was so peaceful! Only two other vans. Please take rubbish home with you.

  • 5/5

Great spot to stay, very quiet and peaceful with a little bit of noice from the stream. Nice and quiet in the evening but busy during the day. Lots of nice walks from the parking.

  • 5/5

Spent two nights here to do the walks nearby. The carpark gets very, very busy throughout the week and even more so on weekends so you'd want to get there early/late. The lane is narrow so can be a little tricky to turn around if you're not confident. Also, be careful of the low hanging branches!

  • 5/5

Great Park up for the night and great walks. Car park does get busy with cars so ensure you're here early or late

  • 4/5

Great spot for an ovet night park up with great access to three shires head and ludds church. very quiet at night, no signal at all. Park up against edge of stream lovely hearing the water pass by.

  • 5/5

Great park up - even when people started arriving it was quite quiet. loads of space in the evening, rammed in the morning. there is a paying car park on either side. 2 other vans staying when I was there on a very cold Saturday night in Oct. Great walks, a cafe that opens at 10 am, a toilet by cafe was open already. There was some signal on the walk I did.

  • 5/5

Perfect little spot! We stayed Sunday night and had the place to ourselves. Just the sound of the brook bubbling through the night. It’s on the trail to Luds Church and other beautiful, less travelled hikes. Also well worth getting up before sunrise to take a 15 mins drive to the northern foot of the roaches and smash out a 20 mins hike up to catch the sunrise! 360 degree views in the dawn light is simply stunning

  • 5/5

Lovely tree lined gravel car park right on the edge of the water. Stayed Thursday night and was joined by only one camper van, no traffic as it is on a dead end road. No facilities immediately on site such as hook up or bathrooms. People began arriving around 9am for walking etc. Definitely recommend and shall be using again!

  • 5/5

Arrived after 7 and backed up onto the stream. Was empty and peaceful. No service at all (we have EE, O2 and Three), but it was perfect for the weekend. The Mill cafe nearby has free public toilets and showers but they were locked (maybe to pay for?) close to lud’s church

  • 4/5

Parked here last night. lovely location backing onto the river. Very peaceful night but this place is absolute carnage during the day with people trying to squeeze in everywhere. If you're in a longer van then I'd park close to the entrance cos it gets narrower the further along you go. Will look fine at night but by time you wake up in the morning you'll be truly wedged in by cars.

  • 5/5

This is a lovely spot to stay for a night. It’s free to park, and venture the local hikes from this park up. There are no facilities, so please take your rubbish. There is no network signal. The ground is fairly flat.

  • 2/5

Spaces available when arrived. Wide enough for motorhomes. Large potholes. Signal dead zone. Lots of loud families about. Moved on.

  • 5/5

Very quiet and peaceful place at night, perfect for an overnight stay..Very busy after 9:00 AM. No Three network, ID mobile and EE.

  • 5/5

Stayed here on a Tuesday night in mid-April, had the place to ourselves and one other van. Really quiet right besides the river, lovely spot! Does get busy from around 10am, with the car park full and one in one out from midday. But park sensibly and it’s fine!

  • 5/5

We stayed here on NYE. Empty when we arrived at 1630 after sundown but in the end 4 or 5 campers stayed. No signs prohibiting overnight camping. Nice stream nearby and great for walks. MWB Sprinter fits easily

  • 4/5

Absolutely stunning place, located right next to the river. Great access to Three Shires Head and Luds Church. Had a really peaceful nights sleep. Absolute chaos during the day, with people fighting for spaces, and then gridlocked up the narrow paths. I recommend you arrive after 6pm to get a spot, and then do your planned hike the following day and definitely reverse in so its easier to get out

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot, tonnes of overnight space. Incredibly busy in the day though so worth arriving after 5. Right on the river with great access to walks. Thanks to the Wildlife Trust for this lovely car park! Very level, some signal if you walk 5 mins up the road. Be very careful on the turning into the road tho - worth going up a bit and turning round first as we almost got stuck on the sharp bend

  • 4/5

Lovely overnight spot right next to the river. Very quiet overnight, only us and one other van there (on a Saturday!). No signal at all but this wasn't a problem. As other reviews have said, the car park fills up very quickly with walkers from early in the morning. Probably best to park in with your exit in mind as the carpark got really quite chaotic! Would still recommend!

  • 5/5

Really lovely overnight spot, right next to the river. We scoped it out at around 6pm and there were only a handful of other cars. We went for dinner and came back around 9pm and there were then only 2 other campers, another 1 pulled up around an hour after us and that was it for the night. Really peaceful. We went for an early walk and by the time we got back around 10:30 pea pole were queuing for parking spots!

  • 3/5

Omg you’re not wrong on it being busy. Beautiful riverside spot and a number of walks, Roaches and Luds Church among them. Lots of cones and red n white tape in lane, no parking signs on approach a plenty too. Sadly lost a star as into the evening youths or boy racers in cars came. Loud music. Shouting and drinking. Uneasy. Thankfully left me be. Defo no 4g cell.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Very busy, but car park emptied about 5 and peaceful nights stay. Absolutely no signal but that not an issue

  • 5/5

Great spot but gets busy on holidays and weekends but if your early you’ll get a spot

  • 5/5

stayed here over NY for 2 nights, it was a really peaceful stay. no facilities at all but would stay here again. There is absolutely no 4G or phone signal, but that didn't bother us. only 6 miles to Buxton if you need to top up on supplies.

  • 5/5

One of the prettiest places to stay around. Empty apart from a few campervans in the evening but absolutely rammed by 9am so park politely in the evening! No signal or data in the car park but if you walk up the hill towards luds church there’s 4g by the big gates. I’d really recommend since it’s so quiet and beautiful but so safe feeling!

  • 5/5

fantastic place to stop. would go here again. felt very safe. quiet place. until about 9am when people started to arrive. space for loads of campers there. no facilities or bins here. very pretty and great if you are doing three shires head walk. only thing is no mobile reception so download things before you get here!

  • 5/5

Great park up. We stayed on a Sunday night, arriving around 4pm on a BH weekend. Very busy on arrival, parked up in the field before the actual park up and went for a walk to 3 shires head. We returned and we moved to the park up location where overnight it was just us and 1 other camper van. Busy in the morning as people arrive to walk. Quiet night but perfect next to the stream, felt very safe.

  • 5/5

Lovely little spot, nice and quiet, 3 other vans when we pulled up :)

  • 5/5

Great spot. Parking right next to steam and fields. Very busy in the morning though so was almost blocked in! Access to café, walks and river swimming at the confluence down steam.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet car park. Didn’t actually stay overnight because there was no phone signal but would have been perfect to otherwise. Definitely no signs saying you can’t overnight. Close to the stream and a nice field to walk the dog. About 1.5 miles uphill walk to three shires head.

  • 5/5

We stopped the night here last night. Only ones In the car park and no one arrived until approximately 9am. Nice place to start a walk to luds church. No phone signal. We had heavy rain and parts of the car park was flooded so park facing entrance in bad weather. Car park next door does charge a fee but this one is free 24/7.

  • 4/5

Very peaceful night sleeping here. Beautiful scenic spot next to a stream. Arrived early evening on a Friday in August and the carpark was empty other than 1 small camper. Woke to a full carpark. I reccomend taking a space adjacent to the entrance. As carpark fills to the brim..

  • 5/5

Beautiful, quiet spot. Great walk to Luds Church. Solo female - felt safe and slept soundly but absolutely no phone signal

  • 4/5

We stayed here, the ground is muddy under foot with puddles and pit holes but otherwise perfect location next to a stream and well walked hiking routes. Gets very busy by approx 9am so advise larger vans to park near entrance and reverse into spaces to ensure you don’t get blocked in.

  • 5/5

Great location for walking to Lun’s Church and Three Shire Head! Lovely and quiet at night! Would 100% recommend!
