Best spot on Islay, lots of room, easy to find an even spot, access road is ok just a few potholes here and there. Quiet, sea breeze, great view. Just enjoy !!
Cette zone est l'ancien aéroport, elle longe la plage avec beaucoup d'espace pour se garer. Passez l'aéroport et il y a un panneau indiquant le stationnement, suivez la route cahoteuse et cela vous mènera à la plage. Si vous avez un 4x4 vous pourrez accéder à la plage. Aires de stationnement en béton dur et pelouses plates. Belle vue sur la plage et si ensoleillé peut regarder le coucher du soleil.
This area is the old airport it runs along the beach plenty space to park. Pass the airport and there is a sign for parking, follow the bumpy road and it takes you to the beach. If you have a 4x4 you can access the beach. Hard concrete areas to park on and flat grass areas. Beautiful beach views and if sunny can watch the sunset.
Dieser Bereich ist der alte Flughafen, der am Strand entlang verläuft und viel Platz zum Parken bietet. Fahren Sie am Flughafen vorbei und es gibt ein Schild zum Parken, folgen Sie der holprigen Straße und Sie gelangen zum Strand. Wenn Sie ein 4x4 haben, können Sie den Strand erreichen. Harte Betonflächen zum Parken und flache Grasflächen. Schöne Aussicht auf den Strand und wenn es sonnig ist, können Sie den Sonnenuntergang beobachten.

SturundEdel13/08/2025Absolute Empfehlung für eine Übernachtung. Null Gebühr, Null Nachbarn, Null Mücken. Nur gelegentlich lauter Verkehrslärm, da wir neben dem Flughafen sind. Egal, dank Inselverkehr in 5h nur 2 kleine Maschinen :-) Straße ist eine Schotterpiste wie man sie in Deutschland von Feld-und Waldwegen kennt.
Joudaclimb19/05/2025Beautiful place with many options to park either on hard concrete spots for one vehicle (around 6 individual spots) or grass / sand spots directly on the beach. Bit windy from the sea but worth the starry night. Returned for multiple nights VOXI (Vodafone) 20Mb/s download....

just at this fabulous spot now, arrived straight from the Ferry around 6 pm ish. As others have said the road down is s but bumpy, but the pot holes are avoidable. plus once you arrive the view and access straight onto the beach more than makes up for it. Gorgeous sunsets and even saw a pod of dolphins. if we ever come back to Islay I will definitely return
KH6210/09/2024Out of the way park ups on old concrete hard standings. Access road is bumpy with lots of potholes. Extremely flat so if it’s windy you’re going to feel it (as we did) however on a calm night it would be very quiet I imagine. Area is frequented by local dog walkers on a morning. You can get down to the beach in places.

Kiesstrasse bis zum Platz mit einem schmalen Viehrosttor. Danach herrlicher Blick aufs Meer, Sonnenuntergang

Es war ein traumhafter Stellplatz. Wir waren alleine dort. Sehr schöner Sonnenuntergang und direkter Zugang zum Strand und Meer. Weg dorthin etwas holprig, aber wenn man langsam fährt mit einem normalen Wohnmobil machbar. Durchfahrt durch ein etwas engeres Tor wegen Tieren. Wir standen auf der Wiese und haben keine auffahrkeile gebraucht.

The access road, almost to the beach dunes, has been much improved as there's a large roadworks site now located alongside the airport. Once at the beach it's as pretty as ever and there's no disturbance from any of the site works. Dog walkers and a few motorbikes but the beach is so big it's of no consequence. Check weather reports for high winds before you go as it is a very exposed place.

wunderschöner Ausblick. 100 Meter vom Meer entfernt. Das Stück ist geteert, man kann daher sehr gerade stehen. Die Schlaglöcher aufn weg dort hin sind nichts für schwache Nerven.

Long wide old airport road takes you down to the beach in front of the airport. Fairly pot holed but worth it, as we were there on a Monday and almost had the beach to ourselves lots of hard standing concrete pads and enough space for 20 motorhomes. A great place to stop over very quiet but could be windy
