We found a rough gravel car park with incredible views looking over the coast located on Porlock Common. It was surprisingly quiet with us being the only campers to stay overnight with the addition of a couple of cars and campers stopping shortly in the evening and the morning. A beautiful place to stop off to watch the sunset on a clear day. Unsure of what the rules regarding. overnight parking are as there is no information given on the signs entering the common. Side note, please take your rubbish, it's full of it there.

Really great parking spot a little wonky but flat enough. Amazing views! Very exposed and windy but we did stay overnight in the middle of a storm. There is another similar parking spot more shuttled / lower down 2-3 mins down the road towards Porlock also but didn’t stay there.

Stunning views, one of our favourite spots recently. A short track (20m) leads to a large gravelled parking area with grassy edge looking off the cliff. Not perfectly flat but we managed to find a flat area. Room for quite a few campers. Quiet night with one other camper.

Great spot on a cold calm night. Highly recommended. Sheep wandered by in the morning - only ones there.

This spot was absolutely magic. Gorgeous sunset and sunrise and beautiful views all around. Mostly flat and away from the main road, it does catch the wind but nothing to worry about. My neighbours and I were even joined by wild ponies in the morning!! Can't wait to come back. Note: Porlock Hill is EXTREMELY steep. There is a toll to avoid the hill - would recommend looking into this.

We loved this place in the spring and are glad to be back here in Autumn. The views are amazing and it's so quiet and free. One other camper with us tonight on the lower of the two gravel parking areas. The entrance has mostly been repaired since out last visit but should still be approached with caution. I would highly recommend this spot....but it does catch the wind!

Super uitzicht, ultieme vrije spot.

  • 3/5

lovely views but very busy day stop as its just off A39. Also entrance is very rough and lots of potholes. parking mainly steady slope. Next spot which is 50m down the hill is more level with better surface.

  • 5/5

Quiet, lots of space and stunning scenery. Quite a steep road up to it from the east but easily conquered.

  • 5/5

Wow!! Just wow! Shame we didn’t find this spot last night! Awesome and beautiful. :)

We spent one night here. Beautiful views, livestock all around and we felt safe and secure. The road from Porlock had 25% gradient roads which was pretty steep with hairpin bends. There may be alternative roads. There are a few places along the road where people have camped. I would stay again in a heartbeat. The only problem was the wind.

Geweldige plek. Fantastisch uitzicht en rustig gelegen. Wij stonden er 2 nachten.

  • 5/5

Wonderful place to stay, lots of room in this car park and in the one just further down the road (we chose this one as it was slightly more sheltered from the wind). Two other vans staying, no other noise or disturbance and good to see that there was no litter there

Amazing spot, gorgeous views and very peaceful! Windy when I visited but still had a lovely night. No facilities but lots of stunning walks nearby.

  • 5/5

Great find whilst driving through exmoor. lovely views and whilst a bit windy, one of the best park ups I have come across. no facilities and PLEASE treat the land respectfully.

  • 5/5

Great views, no sound off the A39, definitely worth a visit.

  • 5/5

Fantastic views, no traffic noise, no litter, just perfect! Take care on entry as there is a whopper of a pot hole.

  • 5/5

Very quiet, Breathtaking Views , Exmoor ponies free roaming around . Remember to take your rubbish with you to keep the area clean . No toilets

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Lovely secluded spot with great views of the Moor, over the sea and towards Wales. Heads up: no facilities whatsoever.

  • 5/5

    Nice stop great views

  • 5/5

lovely views. Busy in the day.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Nice view point, where you can see the Bristol Channel and the coast of Wales. The entry to the parking is very steep, so drive carefully. Enjoyed a windy but undisturbed night there. Met a nice Swiss couple up there and had a Beer. A kinda exposed place in the middle of the nature, next to free living Sheep.

  • 3/5

Stunning view, but be very careful if travelling from east. We took the A39 here and the road took us up a monumentally steep hill. I was in 1st for about 5 minutes and could smell my clutch burning out. Not a rip for the feint heart if trqvelling from east (not sure about west)

  • 5/5

Amazing place to stop. There are two gravel car parking areas about 300 metres apart. The lower one is a bit flatter and less exposed.

  • 5/5

This postcode sent me up a terrifying narrow steep path which was very clearly private….. I had to make a hasty reverse retreat!!? Make sure you use grid reference- it’s the A39, NOT the toll road

  • 5/5

Really nice spot and not too busy with 2 small vans also overnighting. Amazing views. Was a bit breezy overnight and lovely bird song from 4am but highly recommend. Watch the uneven entrance as you come in.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for my 1st night away in the van, incredible views very peaceful. Plan to come back when weather is nice and do a hike down the beach

  • 5/5

We stayed overnight in late March and were joined by one other camper van. We had a very quiet and peaceful night. There are 3 gravel car parks within a mile of each other. One of these I wouldn’t recommend due to to large potholes. The other 2 are fine. There are no signs prohibiting overnight parking. Lovely views. You are on the top of a cliff so probably best avoided during high winds.

  • 4/5

Lovely spot, we were on our own for the night here and such a pleasant surprise to open the door in the morning and see the view.

  • 4/5

Beautiful spot. great views, but also very exposed to the weather. didnt stay overnight but i imagine it would have been ok. no facilities.

  • 4/5

Spectacular views! Fabulous place for lunch. Didn’t stop overnight as we were just driving past but couldn’t see any signs or any reason not to. Wifi didn’t work
